Shoot me but I think Uti's gorgeous!!
The witty, talented and very smart Big Brother Africa 3 contestant from Nigeria has been kicked out of the house and I'm glad to know that my votes were not wasted.
I voted for Uti with as much passion as I voted out Lucille and unlike it was in Lucille's case, my vote for Uti was not because I thought he was dull and boring.
I voted for Uti because I did not want Munya to leave.
From the first day he walked in, I knew there was something special about Munyaradzi and yes, I was irritated, disappointed and upset at how "pathetic" he got over Lucille but then I remembered that I've done worse things in the name of love so he's only 22 and is allowed to make the same mistakes I did at that age. Yeah, that's why I voted Uti out, to save Munya and give him another chance.
Why Uti and not Ricco? Well, because of the arrogance displayed by some Nigerians. I'm talking about the people in the BB forums, the blogs as well as the Nigerian authorities who are controlling Big Brother Africa 3!
(....and before you start telling me I hate Nigeria, I have nothing but love for Naija...not that I need to justify anything but yeah, you can read my Big Brother Nigeria blog HERE to find out just how much I love it...)
Okay, I know it's quite a bold statement to make but I have every reason to believe it's true. Big Brother Africa 3 is censored...way too much! And yes, it is thanks to Nigerian authorities and if you know anything about fingergate and the N10 Million Endemol were fined as a result, you'll know what I'm talking about.
We have/had a few interesting housemates in the house and I don't believe that we are seeing every interesting thing going on in there.
To quote from MNET Africa replying to fingergate "We agreed to use material with parental advisory. We assured the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) that we would refrain from showing certain scenes of the Big Brother Africa and we complied with that, but what happened (during the show) was beyond our control. So we apologize for those scenes that were shown and in the future such scenes will never be shown.”
Mmmhh...so yeah, are we seeing everything going on in the house? The answer is No!
Okay, to go back to the topic: What does Uti's exit from BBA3 mean? This is what I think it means:
- It means that the show has lost a LOT of viewers. And not just in Nigeria alone.
- That automatically means that ratings are going down...
- I certainly hope it will mean that the Nigerian government (or whoever it is) will stop interfering...
- There probably won't be a Big Brother Africa again because someone is bound to get tired of all the interference. Doing it and excluding Nigeria will work against them because a huge bulk of their subscribers is there and if they snub Naija, the govt will make sure BBA (and possibly other Endemol shows) are banned in Naija TV networks.
- ....and of course, yeah, the house will be a bit dull coz Uti was really funny...
I don't know why BBA3 came so soon after BBA2 but clearly this season is not doing as successfully as BBA2 did. A friend of mine pointed out that there are actually no sponsors this year...just Ecobank (naija again) & Don Suite Hotels (no money here, just accomodation for the housemates) What happened to MTN ? (They were there last year...remember when they gave the 2010 tickets?), what happened to that "Beauty place" (forgot the name) that came and did the housemates' hair, gave them massages etc?
(Speaking of 2010, can Big Brother please introduce ZAKUMI to the BB housemates? Mr Blatter said we must be louder about 2010 and what better way to punt the World Cup than to show Zakumi to the millions who watch the show?)
Okay, bottom line is that the show is going down from here and hey, don't blame it on us the people who voted Uti out....find someone else to blame. Like I just did up here heheheh
Bye Uti baby, we'll miss you but sorry sweety, someone had to go....no hard feelings!
