The time has come once again where we are all looking forward to the festive season break. Malls have dug up their closets full of Christmas junk and are in a festive mood. Decorations are in place and Bonny M is buzzing away (Much to my dismay). Magazines are advertising Christmas goodies and luring us into wasting our 13th cheques on things we know we don’t really need. Children will be getting new clothes and presents that they won’t have come January. I don’t know what it is about this time of the year, but there are a lot of happy faces in the streets. Yes, everyone is just “jolly” around this time.
I value the festive season. It’s an important time for Christians like myself around the world. This is also the time to reflect on the past year. Many of us (including myself) set aside goals (don’t want to use the term “resolutions”) that we wanted to achieve in this year. We all know how that goes though. You loose some and you gain some. Personally I don’t like setting goals, I feel as though I’m limiting myself. Now I have conformed to society and had a very colorful list beginning of the year and now I feel as though I was a bit cuckoo when I wrote that s***…
So many things happen in a space of 12 months. New souls are born, relationships are formed, friendships are put to the test, jobs are more scares and most horrifying, people die. I am mostly amazed at the latter especially our young brothers and sisters. I could count on one hand the elders that I know of that passed away but there are countless young bloods that have passed on. The entertainment industry suffered a lot too this year
So as I think back, I am proud of all good and bad that I did. I will be hoping that I don’t repeat the many mistakes that I had this year. As a message from one friend said… may the party be wild, food be fattening, sex explosive and the trips be cop-free.
No matter how 2008 went, I just hope everyone is looking forward to an even fulfilling year and more progress in 2009.
So my questions to you are: 1. Did you achieve what you set out to do?
2. Did 2008 bring more friends/enemies/heartache/joy/sorrow
3. Who/what do you want to take with you to 2009?
4. Who/what would you like to leave behind?
5. What is a good year for you?
