I need a detailed letter from Esmare` Weideman, the DRUM magazine editor, explaining how a very unknown Thabo Mdluli made it as a 2008 DRUM darling when Khanyi Mbau and Kuli Roberts didnt!!? Please Esmare`, be quick, I'm waiting!
............. OK, perhaps I'm being a bit of a drama queen here, but do understand that as a fan, I'm disappointed! I understand that the DRUM darlings are selected in a very fair process that involves the general public voting for their favourite schlebs! But it comes as a huge shock that South Africa's entertainment vixens are just not good enough to make it as DRUM darlings!
Khanyi Mbau, who made it on the list in 2006 and 2007, kept us entertained with her over-the-top behaviour throughout 2008! Admitedly she did tone things down when she decided to trade her party life to play mom. But has this caused her to fall over the radar and loose her strong hold over the public!? We'd hate to think that people are like, SO over her!!
Kuli Roberts on the other hand has never made it as a DRUM darling in its four years of existence! This year though, her profile sky-rocketed when she started presenting Real Goboza. And her Sunday World 'Bitchy's Brew' Column became even more controversial, delivering taboo topics in true Kuli style and attracting more haters!
So why did these two Celebs not make it as DRUM darlings??
Evidently they are not liked by South Africans all that much!!... And they know it too! They have started producing and selling their 'I hate Khanyi' and 'I hate Kuli' T's on Facebook!! They are challenging all haters to put their money where their mouth is!!
atleast these honey's are smart enough to spot an opportunity where most wouldnt!!
