M-Net is looking to commission drama series for broadcast in Prime Time during 2010 - 2012.

All the info:

1. Overview

M-Net seeks to engage the services of experienced drama producers, directors, writers and production companies to produce exciting, entertaining, quality English South African drama series.

2. Content

We are looking for commercial, mainstream, feel good family entertainment with a happy ending. Heart-warming South African stories for the South African audience. Stories that will mesmerize, captivate and seduce the viewer to make an appointment with the characters.

The proposal should be original. Serials will not be considered, only series. The story must end at episode 13. M-Net reserves the right to develop only the scripts and not to commit to production in case the scripts do not meet our requirements.

3. Requirements

The proposals must contain the following information:
1. A Synopsis
2. A Detailed treatment and approach
3. Character Bible
4. 1st episode of script – alternatively sample script.
5. A preliminary budget.

Short-listed production companies will be invited to present their proposals in person, at a time that is suitable to both parties.

4. Length

13 episodes X 48 minutes each

5. Target Audience

The core M-Net Audience. For the whole family but aimed more specifically at the viewer of 35 to 49, male and female.

English

7. Schedule

Broadcast date 2010 - 2012

Timeslot to be confirmed but it will be prime time

8. Budget Range

R13 000 per minute
R624 000 per episode

9. Creative Information

Please supply detailed CV’s of key creative personnel who will be allocated to the project. Director, Producer, Script Writer(s)

10. Production Information

• Location of registered Production Office
• Facilities to be used - origination, post-production and laboratory.
• Estimated Production Schedule

11. Any Other Information

• Company registration, VAT registration, Income Tax numbers/references
• Directors or members or partners of Company, CC or Partnership
• Programmes produced in the last 5 years
• Empowerment and/or affirmative action policy
• References (provide at least 2)

Closing Date: 28 February 2009

Short-listed pitches: 31 March 2009

Final Decision Date: April 2009
