Sanctuary follows the exploits of Dr. Helen Magnus as she seeks out terrifying and monstrous creatures who exist among regular people. Some of these creatures she needs to lock up to protect the public and some of them she needs to protect from the public.
She is aided in her quest by reluctant protégé Will Zimmerman, her daughter Ashley, talkative geek Henry Foss - a computer and security expert - and Bigfoot, her taciturn Neanderthal-like assistant.
The series originally premiered as a series of webisodes distributed over the Internet. The Sci-Fi Channel picked them up and commissioned the 13-episode series.
The show is created y Damian Kindler and Martin Wood - producers and directors of Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis.
