On Thursday, Popstars' losers Jamali launched their third album 3rd Base, proving yet again that winning a TV reality show is nothing to get excited about. Who the hell still remembers the group who won that year? I don't even remember their name.....except that of Martin Phike who's went on to become more successful as a soloist than he was as a member of the group.
Who still remembers SABC 1's SOKKA KINGS and their winner on the left....
....Eric Macheru, whose only taste of professional football was the Ajax Cape Town reserve side? Where is he now??
Enough about that, this is about JAMALI, SA's "It" RnB group.
The girls are good and I'm very proud of them. They work hard and you never hear anything written about them so big up to them on that front...
Jamali's 3rd Base has a few killa tracks on it, my favourites are Knowing Me and Knowing you, I Just Can't Help It
as well as the ballad Maybe. Their song "Skut Julle Lywe" mixes English, Zulu & Afrikaans because they "want to appeal to everybody" and I say they should have just called it the COPE song!
You can listen to samples of the tracks by visiting their "boring" website on www.jamali.co.za. What's the point of having a website if you're not going to include information about the group? Not even their names? There are way too many lazy people in this country, it's upsetting!
About the launch.......
The launch was held at the newly refurbished Rosebank Hotel and the place looks absolutely stunning! Check out it's pics on www.therosebank.co.za and ask your sugar daddy/mommy to take you there!
One of my favourite youngsters in the industry, Akhumzi Jezile (YoTV) was the MC and I'm glad he wasn't paid per word coz there was really nothing to say there...
As you know, in every event there has to be the guy who gives the long boring speech, and in this case it was the guy on the right of the above pic. The Jamali gals kept referring to him as the "big guy" (he even made them repeat a song) so yeah, he's some "hotshot" at EMI.
There were NO celebrities at the launch so prepare to see only pictures of Jamali..... in all angles....lol
It's hard to tell whether these outfits were inspired by Moulin Rouge, Madonna or Beyonce......
As you know, Jamali is made up of Liesl, Mariechan, and....*sigh* .......
Jacqui!
Liesl on the left is my favourite in the group and I think she has one of the best voices in the industry and could give Mariah Carey some stiff competition too!.
In case you're wondering, Jacqui is the one who always looks like she's ready for a fight....
She has beautiful legs though....
....and a very gorgeous tattoo on her left ankle!
For me, if Jamali were Destiny's Child, she'd be Michelle Williams....
Mariechan on the far right is looking even more beautiful after losing a few kilos...
The less said about their "dancers" the better!
Those boys were a waste of money (if they were paid. I certainly hope not). They were not dressed properly and we were so disgusted with the chewing that accompanied every move!
NOTE TO JAMALI: Please get rid of those two dancers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mmmm....about Jacqui's legs being gorgeous, let me just confirm "They're beautiful depending on which angle you're looking from." ....
.....even though someone at the launch mentioned she should be a wrestler, she's certainly motivated me to go back to the gym....
Seems like even the young "guitarist" was disturbed about the "step-in" she had on....
That black & white mix masala up there left me "confused".
I had the future of SA's entertainment industry in my arms and the photographer did not bother to ask Phila not to press against "me" that much....
Phila "Mtaka' ma" Mazibuko, I would love to call you baby but I don't wanna be arrested for "murdering a chicken"!
Akhumzi tucked his tummy in and asked me to photoshop this pic so he could look a bit thinner lol.
You don't need photoshop baby, just be happy that everything is in proportion!
P.S. Jamali, I hope you have permission to sing Brenda's "Life Is Going On" in this new album coz we wouldn't want a repeat of what happened with Maisha
