of all the things to compare me to? y'all chose Mara? ouch!! I'm so freakin mortified!!
anyway guys thanks for taking time to read my blog, not bad for my 1st attempt at blogging!! ofcourse my opinion is biast lol!!
i think i went off at a tangent with the 1st blog, too much too soon, I'll bring in strawberry union later...
for now lets take things one step at a time.... so as to not confuse my readers.
one of the readers said something about ackermans. I will have you know there aint a dam thing wrong with shopping at the "low end: stores, I will be 1st to admit that I shop at Mr. Price from time to time and i have no qualms with that.
you guys the whole point of fashion is about self expression, it ceases to do that when you become a labe victim. Most people think that just having an expensive label on your apparel makes you all that... well i'm sure the masses have a respnce to that...
My point is that you dont have to break your bank account to look good. I shop almost anywhere for, if isee something i like then why not? if you can make look good then go right ahead.
I generalized a bit much with the animal prints, let me re-phrase... i love leopard prints on shoes and belts and maybe bags, not a full on animal print out fit oh hell to the no!!
and not all prints look good, cows and zebra should be left where they belong, on the animals them selves. if you can prove me wrong, by all means... go forth!!
I dont know if you can see the image with Ciara and Nia Long, they make lepard prints look great!!
they score 10 out of 10!!
here's more on my theory of prints that look good
just add a brown leather stilleto and denim jeans and you are style mecca, oh dont forget the red scarve
a couple more accesories!! remember guys a little goes a long way, just one item at a time. start small. dont try to veer off the shades of color the prints give you.
so there's no way you can match. and a little bit of red just gives it that extra puch.
simple and classy
see what i mean....
nice party look...
Never!! and i mean Never!! Ever buy these!! it's just too much!!
if you dont beleive me, look at this
it's all wrong!!!
I think you guys get it now, leopard can work as long as you have the sass and savy!!
hola back
xxx sho luv
Sana Lwaam this is for you...
Are there any fruit (strawberry) inspired clothing in ur range or is it only animal (leopard) creations?
No there are'nt any... strawberry union is just a name, how i cam up with it...
I think that strawberries are so very feminine, like all women they have curves and have a soft/hard exterior like all us women and they smell beautifull.
Best of all no two strawberries can ever look the same, just like us wome and just like my pieces... all once off
and all these things encompass what is to be a women hence STRAWBERRY UNION...
Second Q, if ur items are made by hand only, how long will it take to make outfits for 10 blogges to attend the JC 13 live recording by saturday?
I cant's say how long it takes to make a garment, it's depends on the complexity of the garment.
Thanks guys for all the comments, just to touch on your replies... of course fashion is not about breaking your bank account, I can never re-iterate that too much.
I totally agree that you wear the clothes and not the other way around and that's why most people cant' pull off animal prints. It's not an insult. i also think it boils to knowing what works for you, it keeping it that way, after all, why mess with something that works right? although sometimes it's okay to try new things.
By the way... I was flipping channels yesterday and i saw Mara wearing prints, LOL!! Shame man, she did'nt look that bad in it, so I take back what i said her. so what she likes to over kill the prints? it's her prerogative and that goes for everyone else.
I always say that it's okay to have opinions as long as we don’t impose our opinions on others. Which bring me to what one of the readers said on my blog about not buying from me.... that's okay too. It's your right, we live in a free country and that's why we have so many shops for you to choose from.
I don’t intend on going main in stream with the label, it will be for a select few.
Today I want to touch on fashion staples.
25 things you need in your closet, certain fashion staples remain in style year after year. Timeless classics every woman should have in her closet/wardrobe....
The basics
1. the classic trench coat
The classic trench A basic belted one is versatile and comes in a variety of fabric and color options. To avoid looking like a secret agent: Choose a well-tailored option that hits right at (or below) the knee for a polished look.
2. the well fitted jeans
Fabulous-fitting jeans Whether faded or tailored, the right pair of jeans will make you feel super-sexy every minute you wear them
3. the timeless cashmere sweater
cashmere sweater Invest in a classic style in a statement-making, vibrant color to brighten up your wardrobe. The fabric is luxurious and the look is versatile--you can wear it to the office, for an evening on the town or just chilling out at home.
4. The Camisole
A sexy camisole For a hint of sexiness and sophistication, wear this essential underpinning with a jacket or a cardigan. With several flattering styles from silky to lacy, it looks super-stylish on its own too.
5. another great staple is a good pair of flats
Give your feet a well-deserved break; try a knockout color like red. Heels aren't the only way to fancy up your feet. From preppy-casual to peep-toe sexy, you'll love the way flats look with jeans, dresses and trousers.
6. everygirl needs to have a great looking bekini/costume
Personally i prefer wearing full costumes, i feel they tuck everything in nicely...i just had a baby and I'm still trying to shed the pounds, I own a black one, very similar to the marilyn monroe types, one piece suits. works wonders I tell you.
very similar to this one:
Another good staple is an Aline skirt, these agre great for us ladies with hips, never have hips looked this good in these skirts and they suit any body type, that the best part!!
7. Team it up a classic white well fitting shirt and your set, white shitrs will never go out of fashion.
Moving into the second phase of the staples : ULTIMATE ACCESSORIES!!!
8. Jewelry you love Simple but striking, jewelry can give everyday basics new life. Finish off any look, for example, with a pair of simple gold hoops, or opt for a large, chunky necklace (and skip the earrings altogether); either of these will instantly add glamour.
hoops i dont think will ever be out of fashion, they dont have to be gold. whaever metal works for you.
chunky necklaces go well with a white shirt, jeans and flats...too nice!!
10. you can go wrong with a sun hat
A chic sun hat Not only will it keep aging ultraviolet rays from your face and hair--but with more and more designs to choose from these days, it's an easy way to show off your personal style too.
I'd go for a white one, looks fresh!!
11. An all-around tote A clunky bag does nothing for a suit or dress. Instead pick a roomy, sleek, well-structured leather tote. You'll look put-together, and it will keep your papers, cell phone, datebook, makeup and more in place.
keep real... real leather, it gets better with time, trust me.
12. In these BEE times we live in, a multifunction timepiece is the ultimate accesory
moving on to phase three!! STYLISH EXERCISE GEAR!!
It seems these days even going to the gym is a chane to show of your worth..shallow i kno, but hey...
13. A stay-dry tee With the evolution of breathable, sweat-wicking fabrics, this closet staple keeps skin dry so you're cooler during workouts (who likes--or needs--a soaked tee?). Look for those with antimicrobial fabrics too, which can help prevent sweaty, post-workout aroma. And always opt for bright colors (other than white) to help boost your mood, confidence--and your desire to work out. Our tip: Have plenty on hand for frequent workouts.
14. The gym-to-street shoe Don't underestimate the power of cool-looking and comfortable sneakers. A flexible yet supportive fit with a cushioned sole, and a ventilated outsole, keeps feet comfortable and fashionable throughout the entire day--no matter whether you're on an afternoon power walk or heading about town for your daily or weekly errands
Becarefull here, there's a thin line between running shoes and shoes you can wear at the gym, NO GUYS, RUNNING SHOES CANNOT BE WORN AS CASUAL SHOES! I DONT KNOW WHY PEOPLE DO THAT, IT DOES'NT LOOK GOOD AT ALL!!
15. An all-around parka A streamlined "soft-shell" jacket is lightweight and breathable but protects you from wind, snow and rain. Wear it to yoga class, for an outdoor jog or just running around on weekends. In the winter, if you add layers of fleece underneath it for core warmth, you won't need to bother with a huge, bulky overcoat.
16. A supportive bra You need at least five of these (or one for every day of the week that you work out). Replace them every year--otherwise stretched-out fabric won't give you the support and figure flattery you need for a smooth, jiggle-free silhouette. Pick fun colors if you don't plan to wear a T-shirt over it. - Nike has really good ones, and they go for about R200 at edgars.
17. Comfy lounge pants Who doesn't love coming home to a pair? In fabrics like terry cloth, cotton or velour, you can pull them on for yoga or wear them to the grocery store (with a pair of comfy shoes) without feeling sweatpants-sloppy.
18. Music to go Mix up your workouts with a take-everywhere MP3 player. Carry it to the gym, the track or wherever you normally go to work up a sweat--to play your most inspiring tunes. It's sure to motivate you to run, jump and boogie to your best body.
and the all importand GYM BAG!!! Puma has really stylish vintage ones similar to this one that i will oad on the next entry as we go through the 25 wardrobe staples....
and the list continues....
These type bags also double as casual bags... just as long the bag is'nt mamoth sIZED
Moving on to the next phase.... the work from CAREER PHASE
19 A signature scarf It's a piece that can add instant style impact to a suit or a crisp white shirt. Pick one in a bold color or vivid pattern; tie it onto your neck or purse handle, or twist it and wear it as a simple, but vibrant, belt.
i KNOW IT SOUNDS ODD, BUT IT REALLY DOES WORK.
20. A sophisticated belt A well-crafted leather belt looks polished and completes your look. Pair it over a long blouse, with a suit or to dress up a basic tank. (See "Dazzling Details," page 224, for a stylish option.) REAL LEATHER…
21. The confidence-building suit From boardroom to bistro, an up-to-date, well-fitting suit flatters your shape. And it offers endless style options: Wear blazer and pants with a blouse for that impress-everyone meeting; pair the pants with a crisp white shirt and cashmere sweater for everyday; or add a camisole to the suit (along with a sexy pair of heels) for that evening event
Get one in black and beige
and without a doubt, GET A CRISP WHITE LINEN SUIT…. STUNNING!!
22 Face-flattering shades the easiest way to class up any outfit--for work or weekend--is with a super-classy (and UV-protective) pair of sunglasses. A general rule of thumb when shopping for the perfect pair: Rounded frames soften a square jaw line, square frames slim cheeks and rectangular frames add width and dimension to your face
23.Strappy high heels whether you buy them in satin or leather (silver, gold or black are always wearable choices), a pair of dressy-looking heels can be worn year-round to the office--as well as out on the town.
24. A clutch Accessorize your evening wardrobe with a sleek, compact bag that's just big enough to hold your keys, cash and cell phone.
25. And finally the all importanr little black dress... every woman should have at least one of these!! They're always so fun to dress up!!
I have included dress cuts that can never go out of style.... the right cut can take you a long way!!!
.
I had fun compiling this list, most of us already have about 70% off these items. So it wont break your bank account!!
These rainy days have been rather hectic and chilly at times. Since we're moving into winter, my next article will be on Uggs!! you know the boots that were made popular back in 2003. I see a lot of people wear them, so do I... actually...
Out of those people who wear them, only 5% are getting it right. It's time we ake that right.... incase you are wondering... here they are...
