Does it still exist

TVSA is popular to celebraties even though they say they hate it.

I was listening to Metro( dont ask me why) and I heard Sakina Kamwendo( not sure of her name),(she goes on after Robert Marawa) say her topic would be Lobola.

SAkina Kamwendo is the presenter for Melting Pot after Roberts's sport show. Anyway as I was listening i told my man that I wouldnt be surprised if she read an article on TVSA about this topic.

To my surprise, she said she researched this topic and came across an article on the "internet" about Lobolo. She proceeded to read the article and it was the exact article that one of our bloggers (Dimago) wrote about yesterday.
She even made reference to the lobolaonline website.

This made me wonder- shouldn't  people who are supposed writers have their own creative ideas? instead of taking other people ideas and using as plain and unedited like that?

I must say though the show was nice as she had Prof Mkhize who is the founder of some cultural/traditional organisation.
He explain very well the concept of lobolo and what it meant in the olden days.

What are your views on this? It's not the first time I heard someone talk about an article on TVSA without even mentioning TVSA as his/her source.

I found it quite annoying because they make the shows or ideas seem like their own even though Bloggers wrote the article.
It also made me think, If you're gonna read an article on radio shouldn't they also read our replies as they are part of the articles?

She wanted people to call in with their views and questions- we had our views but she didnt voice them.

So are these so called "original" people still original or have they lost all the creative bones in their bodies?

I also laughed when I heard her read it, Maybe poets (Miss mazwai wink, wink, nudge , nudge) can find some inspiration here-when they do their research.

big of you to admit to your 'borrowing" ngwana.

i don't ahve a provlem with the act of stealing so much as i have with them not crediting their source. THAT is despicable in my books!

We need to stand up against this, its wrong and undermines our creativity, this is plagiarism at its best and wont be tolerated.

That's what i thought too Andi. They should at least ask our permission before using our work. Just to reply on the blog and ask-

We should actually call in the studio and expose them on air.

Y not call the station when they busy discussing our articles, and politely say  on air .."actually this topic was discussed yesterday (or whenever) on a website called TVSA and the view was.......blah blah blah) " that should put the presenter on the spot right there for not crediting her sources...

Felfel-topics get discussed every where all the time- why not " Funny because I wrote an article on my blog with the exact same words as the one you just read, what a coincidence"

Ok im not gonna say she did a right thing but guys we all inspired by individuals, and to me its a bonus. You should credit yourself. BTW Dimago should to do that. Some they see us as a bunch of crazy children who got nothing to do but trashing/gossiping about them. But still that child can come up with something that will build or inspire you. So lets stand up for Dimago, bloggers & their interesting replies. Lets give them a loud of applause. One day someone will see there is a talent here.

Just my 2cent so DONTS bite my head

I think we should look at the time frame between the TVSA article and the talk show before we can make any assumptions. Aren't the Presenters submitting their topics to someone at the station prior to going on air? Is it seconds, minutes, hours or days in advance?

If you were the same presenter would you risk your reputation by going on air with someone else's work without crediting that individual? Even worse knowing that the article is from TVSA. Knowing TVSA members would you dare do such a thing?

What are the probabilities that the presenter and the blogger came across the same information when doing their research? Was Prof Mkhize called on the same day of the show or was appointment made in advance?

How do you classify views as that of someone, if I have the same views about AIDS as you, do I own those views?

The topic was the same day as Dimago's article. Even if it was discussed with the producer a long time ago before airing it, she should have mention who the source was. It's simple.
How do you classify views as that of someone, if I have the same views about AIDS as you, do I own those views?
It's not the same thing. If i write an article that you thought of writing but never got around to writing it, it's my intellectual property. We can think the same things but what we do counts more.
Dimago wrote it first and she used it after the fact.

My understanding here is that she was honest about the work not being hers. She spoke of the info/article being sourced from the internet. She probabbly should have mentioned TVSA, but she did not at any point make an impression that this was her own creativity. Neways, every company has its policy, what if it does not allow them to specifically state the source (just thinking out loud).

GML

Nonsense, if she was reading it from a book she would have said the title of the book and who the author was. The Author in this case is Dimago who deserves to be mentioned

D pls don't forget me when you're rich and famous :)

people will always pass other people's work as their own. the least the woman should have done was to acknowledge the author and/or site. it's not enough that she said she was researching and came across it.
