Dear Lulu
Please take uGogo to Home Affairs to apply for an ID so that she can receive her pension/grant. Even Zimele suggested you do when you first met (only good thing to come out of that affair). Ok? Great stuff.

Last night’s episode took us deeper into the human psyche the overarching story line (“a tangled web of double lives, deception, sexual exploration and intrigue in an environment darkened by the threat of HIV/Aids”) and the individual actors’ journey. There were tears shed, expected truths revealed, and unexpected drunken behaviour.
Zimele finally plucked up enough courage to face his demons and get an HIV test and wise words from Sol. Allow me to just step into Sol’s life for a second, or the lack there of. Who does he go home to? I don’t know much about the previous seasons but in this one I think his demigod status seems more celebrated than anything else. But love him all the same, with all that’s going on he is a blessing (excuse pun).
After finding out the obvious he tells Lebo who tells that he should tell his lover so that she can get tested too. Young feminist Mihlali is still feeling miserable about the fact that she is keeping what she knows of her dad’s shenanigans from her mom.
Amid the misery was a party, then more misery, then shock and ultimately horror. Everyone was at the party, except for Bulela. Now that reality has come to Zimele’s nest to lay eggs, roost, watch them hatch and bring misery to match, he aggressively denied Bulela’s request to attend the party he had been invited to by Dineo. Lulu and Zakes (or Golden Delicious as I tend to call him) are together at the party when Zimele bells Lulu asking to see her about a very important matter.
The Misery
Unfortunately Golden Delicious over hears Lulu saying Zimele’s name as she was talking to him on the phone, so when she comes back to him and says that she needs to rush home because uGogo is sick, he knows she is lying. But obviously he doesn’t know the whole story so he takes it as Lulu having lied about ending her affair with Zimele. With a bruised ego and heavy heart, Zakes leaves the party to drown himself in a bottle at home.
The Shock
In the meantime dinner is on Zimele at a semi-fancy restaurant where he tells Lulu Belle over some candles (I thought that was odd too) that he is HIV +. He advises her that both her and Zakes must get tested. What started off as Lulu thinking Zimele was trying to get her back ends in her frightened and crying at the thought of her having the virus and the fact that she may have passed it on to Golden Delicious Zakes. I sat wishing that Zakes will be the one in Lulu’s love triangle who doesn’t get infected. As for Zimele, I wondered if he could afford more revelation dinners by candlelight, what with his history of love polygons.
And the Horror
A ‘stood up’ Dineo runs after a heart broken Zakes and the result of that was just unbelievable. She finds Zakes drowning his sunken ego (shame he really was hurt), and he suggests they toast to them both being losers in love. And they do. Once too many times perhaps and the episode ends with them in Zakes’ bed! (Gasp).
How it went ‘down’
First it was the drinking, then Dineo getting sudden stomach cramps (a hint at a possible pregnancy?), then Zakes taking her to his room to lie down, followed by her spilling her sober-me-up coffee on her skirt (luckily they didn’t do that thing where Zakes offers to wash it for her quickly in the machine. Oh wait, this is not Hollywood).
A bit of chit chat, a compliment about her eyes from Zakes and touch down! His lips landed firmly on hers, and so does the rest of his body. But whether they go as far as the deed itself, we’ll have to wait until next Monday to find out (dot dot dot).
