Happy Friday to you all
My Apologies for not writing the perfect English (its not my favorite Language so I choose not to be perfect in speaking it or typing it in this case).
Okey lets get down to business. My younger brother is attending the very same primary school I went to. and taking him to school this morning ngibuyelwe ama memories of my days in Primary, and the best thing about my Primary school days was the class teacher I had. Mrs N N Walker, She was the school principal who was famous for her perfectionists ways of doing things.....and not forgeting beka strict too much. being the perfectionists she was, nobody wanted to be in her class ngoba beka trappa strong.
In 1991 I was doing STD 1 after passing my Sub B ngaba u position 1, Ngaba sebhadini ngoba u Principal was choosing students who passed their Sub B well, to be part of her class ku STD 1 . I was one one of the chosen ones. so now I had no choice but to pull up my socks even more higher ngiphase strong.
Okey, so besengiseklasini lika Principal ( her class was the biggest in school ngoba she was using one of those double room classes with a divider in between and the best part was that she only had 10 students (10 of the best) in her class.) unlike other classes which had about 30 students in them. The principals class had their own rules and principles, eg. School hours were from 8 to 2 but for the principals class it was 7 to 5. whilst the other students go for break ka 11 the principals class would go for break ka 2 and after break it would be hand work time...girls would sew, clean etc and the boys would do hand crafts(thats what we called it, doing wood sculptures, drawing and doing anythin that needed glue, nails, hammer, saw etc.)
The best part about being in the principals class was that we were all one big family, just before break girls would prepare food (yes we had a stove and pots in class) for everyone including the principal, and we would all eat together, everyday. I tell you every weekend we would all wish for monday to come. School was fun for us. a lot of people were saying bad things about our principal saying she was abusing us, not giving us enough time to be kids and play on the streets. but thina in her class loved every minute we spent with the principal.
And Mrs Walker loved choral music with a passion, my school was the best school in the township ngokucula under her wing. she was a perfectinist so much that she moered us when we were singing (rehearsing) athi umlomo kumele ube njengeqanda when we sing hayi njenge kgabhu (watermelon).
When the year ended, she could not bare the thought of having new students in her class so she moved with us to the following STD. so we were in the principals class from STD 1 to STD 5. hence I say eklasini lika principal we were like family. because even our blood families knew each other because the principal would organise gatherings or outings for sonke, the students and their parents (but remember only thina ekasini lika principal not the whole school)
To cut the long story short, (LOL its long already) I love and miss my Primary school teacher Mrs NN Walker, she taught me so about about life, even today when I do something out of order I hear hear voice angikhuza, she encouraged us to be the best in life, to make our parents proud of us and not only just archive in life but to excel with blinding colors (not flying colors).
Ngiyaziqhenya ngawe Mam
