The best teachers

Happy Friday to you all

My Apologies for not writing the perfect English (its not my favorite Language so I choose not to be perfect in speaking it or typing it in this case).

Okey lets get down to business. My younger brother is attending the very same primary school I went to. and taking him to school this morning ngibuyelwe ama memories of my days in Primary, and the best thing about my Primary school days was the class teacher I had. Mrs N N Walker, She was the school principal who was famous for her perfectionists ways of doing things.....and not forgeting beka strict too much. being the perfectionists she was, nobody wanted to be in her class ngoba beka trappa strong.

In 1991 I was doing STD 1 after passing my Sub B ngaba u position 1,  Ngaba sebhadini ngoba u Principal was choosing students  who passed their Sub B well, to be part of her class  ku STD 1 . I was one one of the chosen ones. so now I had no choice but to pull up my socks even more higher ngiphase strong.

Okey, so besengiseklasini lika Principal ( her class was the biggest in school ngoba she was using one of those double room classes with a divider in between and the best part was that she only had 10 students (10 of the best) in her class.) unlike other classes which had about 30 students in them. The principals class had their own rules and principles, eg. School hours were from 8 to 2 but for the principals class it was 7 to 5. whilst the other students go for break ka 11 the principals class would go for break ka 2 and after break it would be hand work time...girls would sew, clean etc and the boys would do hand crafts(thats what we called it, doing wood sculptures, drawing and doing anythin that needed glue, nails, hammer, saw etc.)

The best part about being in the principals class was that we were all one big family, just before break girls would prepare food (yes we had a stove and pots in class) for everyone including the principal, and we would all eat together, everyday. I tell you every weekend we would all wish for monday to come. School was fun for us. a lot of people were saying bad things about our principal saying she was abusing us, not giving us enough time to be kids and play on the streets. but thina in her class loved every minute we spent with the principal.

And Mrs Walker loved choral music with a passion, my school was the best school in the township ngokucula under her wing. she was a perfectinist so much that she moered us when we were singing (rehearsing) athi umlomo kumele ube njengeqanda when we sing hayi njenge kgabhu (watermelon).

When the year ended, she could not bare the thought of having new students in her class so she moved with us to the following STD. so we were in the principals class from STD 1 to STD 5. hence I say eklasini lika principal we were like family. because even our blood families knew each other because the principal would organise gatherings or outings for sonke, the students and their parents (but remember only thina ekasini lika principal not the whole school)

To cut the long story short, (LOL its long already) I love and miss my Primary school teacher Mrs NN Walker, she taught me so about about life, even today when I do something out of order I hear hear voice angikhuza, she encouraged us to be the best in life, to make our parents proud of us and not only just archive in life but to excel with blinding colors (not flying colors).

Ngiyaziqhenya ngawe Mam

So ma bloggers tell me about your best memories of your primary school days...
the best teachers you had.......the best trips you went to...what you achieved in your primary school days (mina I was always number 1 in class, received a whole lot of performance certificates and little trophies)...so share

bekunjani e primary for you???

One other thing i loved about my Teacher is that she was very stylish, clean and neat and she made us wear perfect school uniform everyday...she would even buy  shoes for those who did not have...she was simply the best.

she was a teacher who taught from the heart

Mina i had a principal from hell in Primary. We used to call him Isbhamu Sogodo, I'm not sure why but i presume it's because lalungafakwa!!

Then when i went to Standard 3, kwafika a very sweet English Teacher (Mr Thwala). He liked me ngoba apparently i shared the same name as his grlfriend so that was advantegous to me. Then trouble began when i was doing Standard 5. Everyone (including other teachers) thought besijola!!! I couldn't understand what that meant ngoba phela i was still a child. Yena shem he was cute emncane futhi....... Yo, sir!! Holla @ ur gal...........

To be honest I miss school days...I have been in one of the craziest, fun yet best perfoming classes in all schools I went to. Well std 9 and 10 I was with lunatics..ehehe if u think Baksteena is nuts well think again and no one did drugs except those who smoked weed and yet were perfoming. I remember we made a few teachers to cry including a man who was teaching maths... 1ne english class teacher once moered us in Grad 12 because we we just crazy...we would go days without being taught but we would stdy on ourselves and have funny ish in between.

Mrs Walker had issues with letting go shame.

I went to the same primary school my mom taught at. So I had to be a model student, some kids liked me coz my mom was a teacher qha (Ingane ka mam) others hated me for it (I was running once and tripped over another girl, her friend was like "ngabe ngimfak'impama mina azoyek'uk'phapha ngoba eyingane ka memu" haha). It also didn't help that I got the most medals(I was clever phela hehe) I'd hear comments like "yini ungavele uhlale estage ngoba awakho wonke?"

I loved almost all my primary school teachers-especially my standad 4 class teacher because he let us 'print' when we write (sibhale ngokuhlukanisa haha)

The names we gave the teachers shame: umqothuka- she was Nandipha-ish, Miss Clover-she had DD's, uSkontela-too dark, uPolony-she was round, uBheseni-he had umkhaba...kids can be cruel.

I remember I was once suspended because I said the principal wa bora to his face  ehehehe but made it back the next day....damn..anyway he did.
One dude actually vice principal was Ndebel and didnt know Tswana so we were forced to study from 7 to 5 and come to school on Saturdays and Sunday's because the school had 7% passrate and we had to increase it.. so he said ' nina science class u satle skolong usatle le motswadi wa hao' guess what...only a few chicks pitched on saturday ...and mina I went to Telkom Charity  cup...hi hi hi
Another thing we used the lab and there was a bakery that delivered bread everyday at school and put it in there...tjeer we ate all day....buying russians and making starch water (sp)..

We also had learning channel tapes...but instead of watching them...we brought movies and only did them with the teacher.

We were full of sh!t thina..damn.. i still cant believe we had 96% passrate after and only 1 chick failed from our class.

In Standard 5 i had this Geography techer, Mem Mavundla. She was the oldest of all teachers, wayesezigugele bandla. One day she was wearing a weird looking mashwabana type of two-piece (shirt & skirt). During her period we laughed with my friends saying she's wearing a Topographical Map. Kanti when she turned from the board i was still laughing. She threw out of the class right there and then

LOL im sure bewukhera iskaftini esimnandi nemali neh? LOL! on that note i went to a lot of primary schools 3 to be exact, but the one black school i went to was in sasolburg, i had to go there because the school in the lockshin would accept me because they thought i was still and child, mcim, i was just short nje, eish those days mara, it didnt matter how old you are if you are short a ukene skolo. Phela I was 5 i had to go to school. in that school i was also umtwana ka mam, my aunt taught at that school, eish it was fun because ne ke tswa number 1 ka price giving. people will say it is because ke ngwana mam and in those days competition ene ele strong, i met my ex teacher the other day and she said i hope o ntse o le bohlale o ithuta (meaning im still learning and clever)

@ Zah00.Standard 2 my class teacher moered me nge blackboard duster on the nails ngoba ngabhala ngokuhlukanisa. Sixple lol Zah00 I only thought that happened at our school lol, they even used to pinch us on our armpits or between the thighs lol!!! eish i hated i duster or iruler jerrrr!!!

My best days were in high school! sho! we had this teacher called Mrs Leeburn, jerr lo mam was something else, we had to stay in detention because we couldn't pronounce the word "determine" we would say it ka sesotho, i dont know if you will get it but it was something like: dee-ter-mine, Dee (like dee) ; ter-(the ya sesotho); mine - ( as you in my own thing, mine) then she would want us to say De-ter-min. sherrr i hated English Class! even the grammar, you shouldnt write a letter or anything with incorrect tenses and grammar, you would stay behind during luch hour. what was nice was my circle of friends, we were 10 in a group! re bua ka batho strong! everyone would want to pass our spot, but i was the only one in the group who went to an "A" class. but it was fun jong!!!

In Grade 5,after 5 years of not going to the school(being in the streets),i landed into Mrs Ndebele's class, one of the best places i would not mind to be forever.I felt at home,i felt comfortable, she seemed to know what i was going through,we walked the journey together, she even invited me to meet her family(But i was still in Denial),i thought i did not belong there.

I wish she knew where i ma and what i am,and i wonder if i will be able to see her again, but i just say ngiyabonga........she was more of a mother to me,than a teacher.

In standard 5 my teacher  Miss Kotze took us on a trip to the museum for not missing a day.

I still have all my primary school results (June and December), my dad collected them and he was soo proud, when I didn't get first position he'd sit and go through the results and the marks, any discrepancies he'd send it back hehe.

The same happened when we went to higher primary, since the teachers knew her mom, and I was best frends with her, we were treated better.

And another mistress onace made me cry, we were in needle work class and my work was dirty and not straight, then she made fun of my eyes and sed "Your eyes are as BIG as a cow's, yet you cant see clearly",,I was so hurt that day..i think she was just jelas coz I was cute and always clean, unlike her daughter, lol

Thanks Awelani

I remember the other day, me & my brother were using one red pen. You know moss when you are old, you always the one who is trusted by parents or in charge of stationery. So it was Afrikaans class & we were marking our tests so i needed the red pen. Now there was this new Mistress & i heard she wanted all the pupils to speak English & me this side doing STD 3,

Where the hell do you think i could twang?

Luckily my brother was sitting on front desk so i talked to him while i was outside (i was using sings). I remember busy showing him the red colour because he couldn’t catch what i wanted. Out of the blue, Miss Mrhwetyana was on my face. She called me & asked why i didn’t enter the class. Man i was so shy & scared. I tried to explain with my broken English but it fell on deaf ears.

I still remember she said, “I beg your pardon”? Hehehe i was lost, thinking uthi, “ndiya baker wena uyaphambana”?

She pinched my neck until i bleed. What pissed me off was, there was my very first boyfriend (sasingekajoli bt sasi charmana nx). He was in the same class as my bro but luckily they never heard our conversation except the punishment. (He still make a fun about this story & we would LOL)

But guess what, i met her on 2006 (i was going to the funeral) & she was so happy to see me & shame you could see she was not faking

Nice nice one.

i had to change primary schools because guys bullied me. i stayed near school so all the teachers knew my parents.

i was an average student from standard 1 till 3, standard 4 i was the best in the whole standard 4 and there was this other girl(Rose) who was very jealous of me. and our teacher then loved her but one thing i made sure was that there  was no subject that she got more marks than me. her mother used to bring eggs and goat meat for our teacher. my dad was so against this, he said teachers should only be rewarded when due and discouraged it as it promoted favouritism.

i will never forget the day our teacher (sorry i forgot her name) punished Keneilwe for telling me that Rose went to the girl's toilets and wrote insulting and swearing words about herself and wrote that i did it. i was so hurt.

But i loved the principal, damn she rocked and loved her whiskies and alcohol. she was loud always fighting with the boyfriends but come school work she was damn good. she passed away from a terminal disease.

damn too long

My last 2 years at primary wa hell, my teacher was a perfectinist so much im not suprised why other kids bonked school.

we had to arrive at 6am in winter or 7 in summer, just to fiela mabala(the hole school yard and outside), clean toilets as well as our classroom...(hmm it was so spotless, u could see your back to school panty on the floor. Haai, we used VIM and Jeyes fluid(i still hate the smell) for toilets. And in the afternoon we would shinisa our class repeatedly while she was busy with her markings, nxxxxxxx!!!!!!!!!

iStoep sethu was also shining and no scholar was allowed to nyathela on it, uzunyathele wena, uzorhuda ungaselanga ipilisi, thats what she used 2 say.
We did not have idustbin nor suppose to make rubbish.

Least but not last,  non school uniform was hanged at the school fence for the whole day and fancy shoes were left outside the door....will b back 4 more
