.. please imagine ...
The Place: Teatro Mosaïek *said in a french-type accent - what's with Jozi having so many French/Italian names everywhere?*
The date: Friday night. (20 March)
Time: 10'ish
Wassup? The weekly live recording of the Idols Spectacular has just come to an end and all the Idols hopefuls and half the judges go backstage to a special room to mingle, booze and sign autographs.
Sound effects: *Lots of noise in the background with all sorts of people everywhere . I've been thinking, it's very wrong that everyone's called an Idol just because they happen to be in the show - only the winner should be:*
Beverage: Wine. Urgh, not my choice but the only available drink with kick.
Spotted First: Gareth *still in make-up, post-SMS, close face-to-face, very tall *
Tashi: In each season of the show - who was person who stood out for you most who didn’t win?
Gareth: You’re lucky to be asking me this question because I’m the only judge young enough to remember.
In the first season I wasn’t a judge so in the second season .. it was that girl from the Free State man ...?
Tashi: Anke.
Gareth: Yes, here I am going on about my good memory. I think apart from Poseletso who came second, who I thought was bloody good, there was no-one else who really made an impression.
In the third season I quite liked Gift - to me he was the highlight of the season and I quite liked Nikki from NKD, I thought she stuck out too.
In Jody’s bunch I’d say Munro should have been more prominent. Look he was, in the show he stood out - he had the personality - and he’s just released his album in the last week, I think it’ll do very well.
In this season, we’ll have to see .. I like that they all have character, that they’re all individuals and certainly you can differentiate between them. Talent isn’t the most important thing to me here, character is.
Randall Psychics The Week's Outcome
Tashi: Ditto Gareth's question.
Randall: Season 4: Andriette. Season 1: Brandon.
I think Zama Jobe was Season 2 ... and Season 3, I honestly can’t remember um ... it would be Gift.
In this season, the person who I know won't win is Lizé. Girls don’t like pretty girls. I don’t necessarily think a guy will win, it could be a girl but someone who isn’t in your face. Like an innocuous ... like Jody who was all about singing. I don’t mean innocuous in a negative way, I mean it like innocuous to other young girls. I think Lizé’s a very attractive girl so they’re not gonna vote for her - especially if their boyfriend’s like her.
Missing
I know, a buddha pic but no voice unfort.- Dave was there one moment and fell asleep disappeared the next.
As for Mara - there wasn't a sign of her anywhere. Apparently she doesn't go to the party's at all and never says why - obviously 'cos she's such a cougar she always hurries to her toyboy(s).
"Out of all the seasons that have passed - who’s your all-time fave contestant - winner/not winner?"
Sasha-Lee: I’m gonna have to go with Heinz. I actually bet someone that he was gonna win and he did.
Tashi: So he made you a lot of money?
Sasha-Lee: He did! To me he was the best, he was the most mature, he answered questions well, I just loved him - his voice, everything about him.
Graeme: Possibly Heinz, although he did do it in the first season and there was a lot of hype and Jody’s also proved she can do it. She’s been nominated for 3 awards and won them - both of them have made a mark.
In this industry it’s not necessarily what you do but how you do it. I also loved Karin - she had a beautiful voice.
Jason: Ezra from Season 1 - I loved him, I thought he had the soul, the voice, the package.
Trippy: I was also surprised by his goofiness.
Thembi: Gift, he’s got an amazing voice, he’s the bomb. His voice was strong and when he sings he’s got stage precense - I love him for that.
Lendel: Ezra - I felt that he was the most unique out of everyone. He just had such a brilliant voice and I loved his vibe. The albums that he made after Idols were brilliant - ja, he’s my favourite of all.
Overheard: Word is Lendel has staaacks of cash backing him.
Lizé: I used to be, well I still am, a big fan of Bianca Le Grange. I was a lot younger when I watched her and looked up to her. She was incredibly talented and beautiful and handled herself like an absolute lady.
Noticed: Lizé and Cameron were together at least 90% of the time. Super clingy.
Pixie: Definitely Carla from last season. It was a tie between Carla and Rob Warren - Carla made it through to the Top 10 and I loved that she was slightly off of the mainstream in terms of her style and choice of music and I identify with that - I feel like I’m slightly more alternative. She was out in the Top 8 or Top 7. She’s actually working with M-Net now so we get to see her.
Snooped: Pixie's BF is worryingly unemployed. Apparently he left his job because he wasn't paid but still; you know what I'm saying.
Cameron: I have to admit and confess that I didn’t watch last season - I only got DStv a week before I came into Idols. When it was on Open Time I watched but I’d say Jason because he’s one performer I’d go out and watch regardless of if he was in Idols.
Tashi: Yes but he’s in your season. From other seasons?
Cameron: I don’t know - I can’t even remember that far back. I was 11 when the first season was on! 11, 12, 13. Off the top of my head - Heinz because he sticks out in my mind.
Tashi: So he’s not your favourite singer then? *hoping*
Cameron: I can’t even remember what his voice sounds like but when I think Idols, I think him.
