zuma...i'm confused

I’m confused…. really confused. I’m not all that clued up when it comes to politics, but boy- this whole thing of Jacob Zuma, Bulelani Ngcuka, Leonard McCarthy and the spy tapes has left me with so many unanswered questions.

So I listened attentively on Monday as acting chief prosecutor, Mokotedi Mpshe announced that all the charges against the ANC president had been dropped because of the spy tapes.

My burning question: what bearing do the spy tapes have on all the charges that Msholozi was facing? Unless I’m missing something, but the spy tapes were about when and where to charge Zuma, and not fabricating criminal charges against the man…

So Ngcuka and McCarthy “spied” and colluded against Zuma, shouldn’t they be charged to spying and for interfering with a court case?

Did you guys watch the press conference, what did you think, do you understand why the charges were dropped, and what does this mean for you and the country…..where does ex president fit-in in all of this???

So please if you are all clued up on politics, and the whole spy tape saga and why Zuma’s charges were dropped, please enlighten me because I’m so confused….

And the timing of it all……mmmmmm……

confusing,

were these tapes obtained illegally, if not then why would these two have themselves taped?

by the sounds of it, they were maddie...apperantly Geraldina Fraser Moleketsi's brother is the one that leaked them to the JZ's lawyers....these are just rumours of course

They had to find a political solution to Zuma’s woes. This thing of saying the process was tainted is bollocks. If LM and BN conspired to prevent JZ from ascending to the presidency they should be charged and be given the opportunity to defend themselves in court.

Come the 23rd April 2009 bring my machine gun will be the president of the republic.

Procedure and the process were tainted and any lawyer will have a field day just talking about those two issues. Remember the Judge Motata case.
So Ngcuka and McCarthy “spied” and colluded against Zuma, shouldn’t they be charged to spying and for interfering with a court case?

My thoughts exactly. Those tapes still has to be proven to be authentic. Only one side says they are. LM and BN still have to satisfy themselves about their authenticity.
do you understand why the charges were dropped
The process was tainted, that is why they dropped the charges.

if that's the case, then they are inadmissable in a court of law, unless JZ blackmailed them.

anyway that wont change the fact that I won't be voting for the party

That is what Mokotedi Mpshe is saying. I say charge them and let us see whether the courts agree with him in what he is saying.

This is what is wrong with Africa: The ANC is running an African country in an African way, based on the mandate as given to them by the majority of an African electorate. An electorate who were intimidated in an African way and chose to respond in that African way.

If we don't like it, we can resolve it in the way most problems are resolved in Africa: Through the hole in a tyre, suitably doused in a highly combustible fuel or liquid and then set alight. Or just shoot him.

i have few questions that I might not get answers to:

is there anything that M-shower-lozi is going to do differently than his predecessors
if there is what is it? don't tell me about the manifesto cos it's the same manifesto i heard five years back  but with a different pay off line

wasn't there any other person in the ruling party they could have used who is not tainted as JZ? if be ka khona then why bafuna JZ so bad, is there something he promised these people.

any person who believes what politicians are promising especially the ruling party needs to wake up and smell the roses.

our celebrities - i know people have a right to endorse the political party of their choice but these celebrities need to tell us amatenders that they are currently getting from government or will be getting if the ruling party wins, I don't buy lento yabo.

celebrities in America were behind Obama, but then we also need to know that Obama has not been in government for 15 years, so they believed and hoped that this man will bring change, what about our local celebrities i mean they were the ones complaining like us not so long ago about lack of service delivery and now , cmon people.

I think everyone is confused.  The question is though, what confuses us?
What confuses me is that, in 2003 Bulelani Ngcuka announced that although there was a "prima facie case of corruption" against Zuma, he would not be charged because the case was "unwinnable".   Why is it unwinnable?  Is it becuase the NPA does not have enough evidence?  Or is it because there is no case at all?

Then in 2007, BN colludes with MK and LM.  What did they hope to achieve?  To make the case now winnable?  Angazi

Just accept it people whether u like it or not the ANC will get their 2/3rd majority, dammit they've planned and sent out invites for the celebrations party already with a date even, i want to vote and obviously for ANC but i think i'll end up feeling very uncomfortable and cheated for a very long time to come if i do, seeing that they are not short of scandals and wat nots. Vele no political party is clean but yheeeer man ANC just takes it to the extreme with its greedy criminals, these people just test ur patience oko, they just don't stop and its only getting worse. and its funny how they have even managed to brainwash alot of their members into believing that the ANC is like a church, a holy place, free of anything sinister led by its 'holy man' Gedleyihlekisa.

I still fail to understand since when does exposing criminals or criminal activities become conspiracy....while they shout every day that report izinyoka. Its a political solution they have wanted since tuka and I guess JZ is above the law after all... these people are testing our intelligence.

"they've planned and sent out invites for the celebrations party already with a date even".....probbly hey!

i look 4ward to the evolution of politics in our country....were we will have people with the long term interest of the country...economic, academic, IR......bcos at the end EVRYBODY is affected when all this fail.
A global minded leadership bcos oh my God we are no longer just SA we are global citizens...

i dont think it'll happen while the struggle crew is still arround....
Education is key for our future......

otherwise i pray that helen zille and de lille be tenacious for atleast 10 more years even if they dont come into government...i pray they continue to talk and talk and talk...nommater how little voice the have......and little by little we will hear and start asking and probing and stop blindly following.

In the mean time, i hope that in the privilage of higher education afforded us thru the struggle is breeding intelligent politicians who will take is forth into the world

Mining reserves are running out...we are gonna need more to survive in this world in future...

that's the problem with the DA, they talk and talk and talk about the ANC, instead of just doing what they supposed to be doing, which is to campaign for their party....

even their radio campaign advert, it goes something like this "the DA is the only party that can stop JAcob Zuma...."

i mean really, i know they are the strongest opposting party, but they failed to capitilise on the whole Zuma saga, instead of showing the country what they would do if they came into power, they kept on attacking Zuma and the ANC....

Green.arrow
09 Apr 2009 14:27

I guess they could talk a lot about what they do....but on that note, i do believe they do a  lot were they have been given space...like in capetown...problem is.....we dont get to hear about that in the press.....
And from what i heard i believe that the ANC makes it difficult for anybodyu to do and implement anything

I think its good they talk, bcos imagine of they didnt talk.....imagine if dellile ddnt go diggin on the armsdela issue...which is why a lot of ANCers  are in hot water???

They may be taking "not being apathetic" to the extreme...but at least they are not being apathetic

i think they should talk...and probe and critisize...and so should we

@ KK.
that is the only reason I won't vote for Zille, they lost my vote the moment they aired that advert. Is JZ some sort of DEVIL that we don't know about?  And they go on to say that there is no use voting for a smaller party?? Ncncncnc! I'd rather vote for the Woman's Front or KISS Party.

My thought exactly KK ... they have let intimidation/fear or whatever that it is to stand in their way of  creativity and stratergy  of their campain ... at least the should fool us and promise us something that attacking JZ.....
