In February M-Net put out a call for contestants for the channel's new reality show
I Wanna Be and the time has almost arrived for it's premiere - it takes over from Idols5 on
Sunday, 10 May 2009 at 18h00.
The premise of the show: a make-over challenge with a difference. Each week two people spill their wildest dreams and get the chance to live them on the show, with the guidance of experts who help them.
Also in the mix: two guardian angel types who hang out with the dreamers and support them along the way, in the form of
Elana Afrika and
Ed Jordan.
The pair have been cast as the hosts and have started filming and delivering wishes round the country in preparation for the show's debut.
Ed was last seen baldly giving away cash on Deal Or No Deal and Elana's been hosting Idols Exxtra on channel
go.
As for what we can expect from the show - it seems tons of people have dreams that need-need-need to be realised. The show received so many entries a second season has already unofficially been confirmed.
Word from a source close to the production is that some of the dreams requested in the entries have been wild and exciting while others have been
eye-opening ridiculous e.g: "I wanna travel on a plane."
