I woke up at 05:30 on a Saturday and it was not a problem! Wow...it really was a special day because I wake up at 06:30 to go to a work and it is always a problem!
It was cold outside and the weather channel said something like a maximum 19 degrees celsius. Mmmh..."why am I doing this again?" I ask myself...
Hayi...a Zuma Inauguration comes once in a lifetime so yeah, I'm going.
07:00
My sidekick knocked at the door and we started the drive to Pretoria. There were Metro Police cars with flashing blue lights all over the R21. Actually those blue lights flashing cars were all the way till Pitori.
An hour later (I'm a slow / nervous driver ) we arrived at the Rietondale Park in Pretoria where we parked our cars and went inside the Accreditation tent to collect our tags.
To get to the busses, we had to go through those security check thingies and whether you were Patrice Motsepe, Cyril Ramaphosa, Mvume Dandala, we all went through the same place and into the same busses.
The busses took us to the Union Buildings and it had started raining cats and dogs. Before getting off the busses, we were each given umbrellas and there were blankets left on the seats but they were dripping wet when we got there.
I thought "mmh..., I have something to show of from the R75 million" but halfway through I got tired of carrying an umbrella around and gave it to some guy who seemed bothered that I would just leave an umbrella there when "there are people out there who need it"
Wth??
Even Fikile Mbalula wondered out loud why the "VIP's" were leaving with free "blankets" and "umbrellas" when those could be given to charity.
By some miracle, just before the ceremony was meant to begin, the rain cleared!
And there was something very peaceful about seeing the snipers on the roof of the Union Building....
Was happy to know that my President and his people were protected...
....and that his son Juju was safely behind me...... (right)
....leading us in song....
...during the singing of struggle songs like ...Mshini Wam (see video below)
Louis Tshakoane was one of the happiest people on the day!
*singing*"My mother was a kitchen girlMy father was a garden boyThat's why I'm a communist, communist, I'm a communist"
There were some "busy" hats too... Woza Durban July!
The only thing mattered to some of us was that Madiba was there to witness it, to support and to show us all that he believes in the new president and if he could address us he would have told us to give him a chance and stop acting like we are GOD.
God is the only one who can JUDGE or condemn Zuma for whatever "we" think he's done wrong, not you, not me.
A toast, to a successful and productive 5 years under Msholozi's leadership!
AMANDLA!!!
