ANCYL slams 'racist girl' Zille
12/05/2009 13:43 - (SA)

Cape Town - The ANC Youth League has launched its most personal attack yet on Democratic Alliance leader Helen Zille in response to her remark that President Jacob Zuma has put his wives at risk of contracting HIV.

The league said it was "disgusted by remarks attributed to the racist girl Helen Zille, who when failing to defend her stupid and sexist decision to appoint predominantly white males into her Cabinet, attacks the president of the Republic of South Africa (sic)".

"Zille has appointed an all male Cabinet of useless people, majority of whom are her boyfriends and concubines so that she can continue to sleep around with them, yet she claims to have the moral authority to question our president (sic)."

The Sowetan on Tuesday quoted Zille as saying: "Zuma is a self-confessed womaniser with deeply sexist views, who put all his wives at risk by having unprotected sex with an HIV-positive woman."

Militant action

The remarks reportedly came in response to criticism from Congress of SA Trade Unions (Cosatu) Western Cape secretary Tony Ehrenreich on the composition of her provincial executive.

Zille is the only woman on the team.

The ANCYL threatened to take "militant action" against the premier.

"If the fake racist girl Zille continues to speak hogwash like she has been doing during elections, we will take militant action against her, and demonstrate to her that she does not have monopoly over the Western Cape (sic)," it said.

"The fake racist girl who was dropped on a head as child should understand that South Africa will never be a Mickey-mouse republic like she wants to portray it (sic)," it added.

"An absolute majority of South Africans support President Jacob Zuma and will find it very disgusting for a fake racist apartheid agent to continue undermining the highest office in South Africa (sic)."

ANC condemns Zille statement

The ANC has also condemned Zille's statement, saying it was "astounded by the extraordinary attack by Democratic Alliance leader Helen Zille on the person of President Jacob Zuma."

Zuma conceded during his rape trial in 2006 that he had had unprotected sex with his accuser, an HIV positive family friend, but said he had showered afterwards to minimise the risk of infection.

Asked for comment, Zille's spokesperson Fritz de Klerk said a response was being drafted.

Both parties are getting childish and boring now. We ned them to deliver what they promised in their manifesto's and not this kinda of babaric, personal attacks.

13 May 2009 08:27

and one thing that i respect about JZ in all these is how cool he is with everyone, you will never hear him attacking anyone(Mbeki, zille) like that. abo Malema n Vavi do it for him and he stays clean in all this.. maddie
13 May 2009 08:37

emotions aside people let's look at this thing objectively

zille was responding to the ANC criticism of hiring an all male cabinet, i don't hav info on what they said exactly and she said you're accusing me of not adhering to gender qoutas but ur president has questionable sexist views:

when a woman is horny according to the Zulu culture, u don't leave her hanging - this was Zuma's statements not Zille

i had sex with an HIV positive woman without using protection - again Zuma's statement, now tell me didn't he put his wives at risk  by doing that (am not talking about the shower cos it is out of the question)

unfortunately bloggers this is something that our beloved President will be remembered for in as much as Bush will be remembered for his war in Iraq, Clinton - Monica Lewinsky sex scandal, Mbeki for his AIDS denialism, Mugabe well for Zimbabwe.

Recently concluded research shows that these are some of the common beliefs among teenagers in the Anglican Church:

HIV/Aids can be transmitted via toilet seats, and the virus can be avoided by having a bath after sex.

now this is scary

my take on Zille's statements - she stooped so low this time, she could have just given her reasons for hiring a boy's choir instead of mentioning Our President sexual history besides the question was not even related to HIV/AIDS policies

ANCYL -  they stooped to her level as well, those are serious allegations and what makes her racist?

both Zille and ANCYL acted so childish

maud
13 May 2009 08:40

@Cande- we all knew that ANCYL was going to commend, my problem with Zille was why start the fight if you know you wont win, as much as people might not understand this, i like Zille i think she is a very strong woman, and the statement she made  ,yes she was right ,but is it not too late for that? the battle has been won, there is no turning back.

she should start campaining for the next election, she just might win, this round she lost. and she must take it like a lady.

One and Only
13 May 2009 08:40

The whole saga started when Helen Zille was accused of being racist on her cabinet's appointment to which she answered by giving facts that most women in DA opted to go to parliament unlike the ruling party which never had the woman president in 90 years of its existence.

The less said about the ANCYL the better, can anyone tell me why it was created? What has it done so far for the youth of SA? Why are they appointing themselves the human shield of the president? Knowing that whatever they say represent the views of the youth of SA makes me feel ashamed of myself. When are they themselves gonna appoint a woman/ white person as their president?

In all her debates and statements Helen Zille has always stated the facts and up to now she's never been racist but the problem with us the blacks is that we do not want to accept the truth if it comes from a white person. We are like Zim which is embracing North Korea just to spite America.

What do we mean by SA being a democratic country? There's no freedom of speech anymore, you say something against the president you are labelled as racist. Zim also went through the same process.

Msholozi must give her a little shag maybe she will be able to keep her mouth shut. She is always after Zuma, she must stop with her rubbish talk and let the ANC get to work and deliver what they promised to the people. Zuma did not elect himself, we the people of South africa found him well enough to be our president. What Zuma does behind closed doors its his business, even if he is HIV positive to me it does not matter as long as he delivers to his people. Zille must get a life and stop attacking Zuma, l am sure if she wants war of words she can face up with Malema.

It's hard to discuss politics in SA especially with the quality of youth that we have, which most do not think beyond adolescence and relate to every issue as a matter of crush or shagging. Let's think beyond pubertal stage.

A public figure holds certain standards in the community and whatever they do behind close doors and in their own spare time is our business as citizens of the country as he is our president irrespective of whether he delivers or not.

The statement that most people who voted for the ruling party has done so with their hearts and not minds is the truth that cannot be denied, everytime one of their ordinary supporters or youth league speaks it is demonstrated.

We are in the middle of the global financial recession and most people that are gonna be affected are the youth and nobody is saying anything about this in the youth league. Why? because they do not even understand what this is. And we all know that one of the factors contributing to crime is that young active people are unemployed.

I still have to see a day when the youth league would comprise of lawyers, doctors, teachers, engineers etc not the matriculants we have currently or maybe we don't have educated youth in our nation which also cause a concern. I really think that blacks need to be taught what politic is.

Any opinions expressed are those of the author and do not necessarily constitute the views of the Company.

13 May 2009 11:43

For how long are we blacks gonna play the race card in each and every issue? I truly believe that with implementation of policies such as BEE, AA, EE etc blacks should be on the same platform/level as other races.

We should be at the stage where the best man gets the job irrespective of your gender, race and so on. Blacks have underestimated themselves by wanting to be everywhere where the white man is, think of rugby and cricket but we don't see whites complaining about not being in Bafana.

The way we're reasoning and doing things I will make serious deductions that the white man will always be superior over the blacks.

This is an article I stumbled across some time ago and it put everything into perspective for me:

2. the way the ANCYL responds to her utterances is just plain stupid and childish..either because they dont have anything smart and constructive to say..e.g they could try to highlght their stand on HIV issues and safe sex  and distance themselves from that kind of behaviour while also encouraging forgiveness (of zumas past mistakes)and focus on the presidents goals and the future..so calling Zille names is just...EEEERRRRHGHH  olamthuthu

What HZ said about JZ was a factual fact as presented by the court. Even the judge did say JZ put his wives at risk for having unprotected sex. HZ is behaving the same way as the ANCYL, which is being childish.

The question was asked why her cabinet is male dominated and instead of answering the question she attacked JZ for no apparent reason. On this issue HZ should take what is coming to her.

Although I am no fan of JZ, I got to say he is handling the situation in a respectable way.
As for HZ I am beginning to get gatvol with her attack on JZ. The sooner she starts showing the ANC on how to run an administration in the Western Cape and leave JZ alone the better.

JP you have just spoken just like any other diehard ANC supporter, high on emotions and low on logic. Hellen Zille has always requested people to come forward and prove allegations that she's racist and up to now and no one has proven that.

I for one have voted for DA for several reasons, one of them being that we need to have a strong opposition and the other being that I look at Hellen Zille beyond racial boundaries.

People have been promised toilets, water and electricity since '94 and it's suprising that some people are still sharing water with animals and using buckets as toilets. You don't call that racism because it is done by a black person to another black person.

Election results showed that DA & COPE is emerging in suburban areas as people are educated and getting informed there compared to rural areas where ruling party got overwhelming votes because people are illiterate.

If Whites should win elections in future, would it be fair if they implement something like WEE etc because black people were given a first preference during their government? If you are where you are today because of the quotas don't expect me to feel the same. Blacks are their worst enemies and the only persons who hate them is themselves

The Umkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans Association has threatened to render the Western Cape ungovernable if its Premier Helen Zille continues “insulting” newly elected President Jacob Zuma.
“Should Helen Zille not refrain from this anti-African and racist behaviour, we are not going to hesitate, but craft and launch a political programme aimed at rendering the Western Cape ungovernable,” MKMVA chairman Kebby Maphatsoe said in Johannesburg on Wednesday.
Maphatsoe said this was not intended to send the wrong message to the world, but that veterans could not sit back while Zille cast disdain on Zuma’s cultural preferences.
He was reacting to Zille’s comment that Zuma put his wives at risk of Aids as he had unprotected sex with an HIV positive woman.
The MKMVAs deputy secretary Ramatuku Maphutha said the association would mobilise soldiers in the Western Cape to go to Zille’s office sometime next week if she did not retract her statement.
“They are always ready [the soldiers]. It’s either she [Zille] vacates the office, or co-operates. We are prepared to sleep there if need be until we get an impressive response,” said Ramatuku.
The veterans congratulated all elected public representatives in the provincial legislatures and parliament, particularly Defence and Military Veterans Minister Lindiwe Sisulu and her deputy Thabang Makwetla.

I must say I concur with bloggers who expressed their disappointment in HZ, I really expected better from her…as for Malema, Floyd & their team lets say to those less given less is expected.

I expected much from you One & Only -when it comes to issues of AA/BEE I find your opinions very naïve, I’m disappointed. Please tell me you aren’t saying those kids being taught under a tree in rural SA in 2009 stand a fair chance against your so called Model C, please tell me that you not expecting a kid sleeping hungry in a shack going to school with no proper sanitation to be on the same level academically and socially with their fellow white students. Most importantly please tell me you aint saying its cause of their own doing...

And then show me any country in the world that in 15years was able to undo the injustices of close to 50 years.

Yes in some instances we, blacks, are our worst enemies; we can be so power hungry to extent of corruption or even sell our fellow brothers.

But put all in context…to me you sound just as emotional, if not more bitter as diehard ANC supporters. You talking as a truly blessth middle class who himself has benefited from BEE but now wants to refuse fellow blacks the same privilege…tellme who’s being a typical power hungry black now? Wanting to oppressing other blacks economically.

Please your next holiday take a short left see your country…then come, so we debate the issue further.

DA & COPE

One and Only, I disagree with you. DA got majority votes from suburbs because white people are still the majority  that live there. Don't lie...............

Blacks are their worst enemies and the only persons who hate them is themselves
I am glad you can see that in yourself.

for one have voted for DA for several reasons, one of them being that we need to have a strong opposition and the other being that I look at Hellen Zille beyond racial boundaries.

Good for you and I would've voted for DA but because of Hellen Zille  not looking beyond Jacob Zuma, and start fighting for what is good for the country and that is clearly not STOPPING Jacob Zuma.

People have been promised toilets, water and electricity since '94 and it's suprising that some people are still sharing water with animals and using buckets as toilets

People need to start helping themselves and stop looking only for the ANC to look after them. I lived in a house form the day I was born. With running water and electricity. Who did that for me???? My parents and not the ANC!!!!  I must say I'm quite old LOL. Maybe you should also start helping and being positive about your own race. Do something about the ignorance of your race intsead of sitting there on your high horse pointing fingers as educated as you are.  By the way education can be shared. They cant' help each and everyone of us, but they have tried where they could. I haven't seen anything positive in your respones. ANC have done a lot and are still going to TRY fix some of the problems in this country.

If you are where you are today because of the quotas don't expect me to feel the same.
I am not where I am because of the quotas and those who are don't expect you to feel the same. Without these quotas really talented people would have been looked over because of the colour of their skin. We need financial freedom and Mugabe is fighting just for that. NO one in Africa is as brave as that man and you can quote me on that.

The Umkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans Association: aren't these the same people who were complaining that the ANC does not acknowledge and recognise the role they had played during the struggle? The only reason they are gonna sleep there is because they are unemployed and have nothing to do with their time.

"Zuma put his wives at risk of Aids as he had unprotected sex with an HIV positive woman." Can anyone highlight to me which part in this statement is anti-African, racist behaviour and which is not factual. Have you ever heard HZ said anything negative/ against black race in particular? If yes please provide such.

"Zille has appointed an all male Cabinet of useless people, majority of whom are her boyfriends and concubines so that she can continue to sleep around with them, yet she claims to have the moral authority to question our president (sic)." Now this statement is worse than Days, Bold and Generations all combined together, I see double standards as currently in our parliament we have wives and husbands, boyfriends and girlfriends. The above statement still has to be proven in the court of law.

Between the above 2 statements, be kind enough to tell me which one is racist. If HZ was dropped on a head as a child at what stage did the same occur to the YL members? I won't be surprised if they apologise within a month as usual.

@ One & Only unfortunately to me HZ's statement factual or not that’s not a point… it was an unnecessary personal attack especially after JZ's rebirth/renewal inauguration speech makes her sound desperate and compromised her creditability as a good leader she worked so hard for...and frankly it doesn’t make her better than ANCYL...she stood to their level. Now we can’t tell who is the fool and who’s not.
SA just lacks good leaders, but you know what her timing sucks too, I’m not JZ fan and never will I be, guess what? he’s coming across as the noble one, he’s quite, he has said that he is all about forgiving and moving on. Hell he even had only good things to say about Thabo Mbeki.

As for MK…they’re just opportunist….and again HZ gave it to them on a silver platter.

We seriously need leaders in SA, Africa as a whole… And lets say JZ is HIV positive I’m sure we have nothing to worry about he’ll surely be on TAC side…advocating for condom use, ARV etc…. and if he’s not it says a lot about what people will do to be found Not Guilty…some plead insanity some choose to talk crap ie.....take a shower after sex.

@Cleve I share most of your sentiments but as I see it...in SA it’s really too soon for any blacks to think they did anything entirely on their own...its either it was coz of the little leniency your parents got during apartheid…then Yes totally agree…WORKED hard and gave you what you have today…unfortunately most blacks were not that fortunate. Or post 94 whether directly or indirectly, we, all black people are where we are coz of our skin colour the only difference is from that rope thrown to us some work damn hard…that bursary/loan you got at varsity, that tender you got or your parents, that job application that put you at the forefront, that business deal…skills transfer programme etc…

l will just cross the border to Zimbabwe.............In that country you don´t sit and expect the government to provide you with a house......you use what God gave you, your brains and hardwork.

You don´t decide to have sex at 15years and fall pregnant and expect child support grant from government or go to school while pregnant your family will support you.

Your granny is 95years ........she can´t get old age support grant, from the government, her family will look after her.

Each and every child has to pay school fees, you cannot go to school for a month if your school fees is not fully paid. No free education.

There is no free medication,
you pay even for family planning injections/ tablets.

We spend all morning sleeping and expect the government to spoon feed us, give us a house, food, work, its about time we meet the government half way. We must stop complaining and stand up on our own feet and do things by ourselves. We ought to stop being layze and use our brains to fight poverty, stop committing crime and blame it on poverty.

The government has too many committements, we can not expect to all get housing at the same time, lets take it step by step and be patient. Stop destroying schools to show our anger because if we destroy its another setback.

Totally agree with you 150000%. Then the message should have been " We have now achieved democracy ,it is now time to roll up our sleeves and work hard to achieve our goals, dreams and everything in between.

But what did the ruling party do. They created a sense of self entitlement which they have milked for the past 15 years.

@Ms Dee

Surely some of you have never lived in Zim, I used to visit the country regularly while it was still Rhodesia and it was the blue eyed girl of other African countries and used to provide and take good care of its people.

Now it can no longer provide for its people because of the excessive government expenditure, in SA there's no free education either it's only on paper. The pregnancy rate in Zim is as high as here in SA if not more.

You cannot expect people to take care of themselves if there aren't enough jobs and yes unemployment is one of the catalyst to high levels of crime. If there are enough job opportunities less people will depend on government and only the few will need RDP houses.

It has been proven that kids tend to follow what their parents/adults do, calling them stupid for believing that they can cure AIDS by taking shower doesn't make sense, soon you'll expect kids as young as 1 to go and look for work as they can think and make decision on their own.

@Goldii the reason I did not vote ANC is that personally I didnt think the promises made in 94 or 99 where unrealistic...the in fighting...back stapping n corruption caused major delays but realisticlly talking they still would have not reached everyone in mere 15yrs. At the same time you cant run a campaign " Houses for Some" it has to be ''houses for all''  its a marketing campaign at the end of day and if you reach 70% by end of your term then that will definetely be a job welldone. hell even Revlon promises perfect hair to all but everytime I use it my hair breaks.

@Cleve & Big Mama... I'm not saying we must create a dependency syndrome state but lets be realistic for most blacks, some kindda help is still needed for them to start doing things 4 themselves, be education, finances, skills transfers etc...those of us previleged must give back to our communities, in that way we'll accelerate growth and maybe minimise nigaritis.

I cant get why most  whites are not complying with  BEE/AA coz the sooner we do it the sooner we can do away with it and their great gran kids will have equal opportunities.

I agree completely. That's why I am doing my bit for the kids in my neighbourhood. That's why BA is doing something for the people in her neighbourhood. We can give them a helping hand and they must grab it. I would love to see the kids I am paying scholl Fees foe be successful and be able to give back just like I did with them.

TRUE, but your parents teach you to be leaders and not followers. there was a president who was caught having an orgy with prostitutes does that mean every kid ,must aspire one day to have an orgy with prostitutes. We must teach our kids to be intelligent enough to make decisions. Yes, they will make stupid decisions sometimes just like we did many times in our lives. Lets hope it's decisions that won't alter the result of your life.

My sentiments exactly hence why BEE/AA is needed..who's staying in those RDP houses, percentage wise ...who's mostly unemployed or commiting crime? I'm glad we talking the same language.

It has been proven that kids tend to follow what their parents/adults do, calling them stupid for believing that they can cure AIDS by taking shower doesn't make sense, soon you'll expect kids as young as 1 to go and look for work as they can think and make decision on their own-The reason we need role mode, good leaders....hence we disappointed in Helen Zille...there is so much to be done in our country, we have no room for unnecesary remarks especially those that divide the nation...regardless of you says them...if you dont have anything nice to say then simply dont open your mouth.

Hellen Zille is a good leader, she stands her ground no matter what.  She also has her downfalls, that's why we are talking about her today. But does that mean with this reckless statement we should hold her accountable for the rest of her life. Yes, we are "condemning" her for it but there is more to her than this stupid statement. We are going to get past it and we must get over it.

The reason we need role mode, good leaders....

@ Ms Dee
we need good role models but really they are ALL human beings and we must look at them as human beings just like you and me. Absorb the stuff that makes your life better and ignore the bad stuff. Make our own decisions. Be the authors of our lives.

Thought i should share

A Letter from Helen Zille regarding comments by ANC
Today at 15:18
I have had a number of queries around the background of the stand-off between me and the ANC.

The issue started when various spokespersons of the ANC-tripartite alliance accused me of sexism. I wrote the following letter in reply. The Sowetan pulled out one sentence to pursue their established agenda. This got the whole controversy going.

I therefore enclose the full letter below, so that you can judge it for yourself, in context.

Helen Zille
Leader of the Democratic Alliance

Letter to the Editor of the Argus. From Helen Zille

Minister Noluthando Mayende-Sibiya, whose party, the ANC, has just dropped a woman from the Deputy President position, has a nerve to attack me over the gender composition of the DA and ID Western Cape Provincial Cabinet (Cape Argus 11 May 2009).

The ANC, in all its 90 years of existence, has never elected (or deployed)a woman as its leader. The DA has done so within the first ten years of its existence. In fact, until recently, both the DA's national leader and Parliamentary leader were women.

The ANC's alliance partners, the SACP and COSATU, are also led by men. And, more significantly, the ANC's leader, Jacob Zuma, is a self-confessed womanizer with deeply sexist views, who put all his wives at risk by having unprotected sex with an HIV-positive woman. Even after this the ANC women's league strongly endorsed his Presidential campaign. Their professions of support for women's rights ring hollow indeed against this background.

While some of the ANC's senior women achieved their positions on merit, others are well known "quota appointments". The ANC can therefore pretend to be serious about women's rights, while actually patronizing women who want to be recognized for their ability.

Jacob Zuma is able to make all his quota and politically expedient appointments because he has extended his Cabinet (including deputy
Ministers) to a ludicrous 62 members -- at taxpayers' expense.

In contrast, Provinces are confined by law to 10 MECs drawn from the list elected to the provincial Parliament.

Zuma's expanded cabinet will cost an extra R19 million in salaries alone, before adding the cost of all the staff and perks to which they are entitled. But the real power remains firmly in the hands of the 'big men'.
This is blatant hypocrisy. When women are appointed to meet a quota, it is an insult to every woman who has achieved her position through adding value, such as women in the DA.

By paying lip-service to the empowerment of women, the ANC is also promoting the mindset that only women can care about the issues affecting women, or do something about them. The same applies to the ANC's warped logic regarding race, which says that only black people can care about black people, that only whites can care about whites and so on. This is racist nationalist thinking which goes against the letter and spirit of our constitution. It is also something that every intelligent South African should reject.

In the DA we believe that human beings can care for each other regardless of race or gender. The real test of democratic equality is how well services are delivered to everyone, on an equatible basis, not the colour or gender of the people delivering them.

Helen Zille
Premier of the Western Cape.

They give grants for children welfare,  mothers of those chldren take that money and pop in to the nearest salon they dont even buy a simple single thing for a child,  then who do we blame?  Somethings will only take us to succeed.

MTN is incompetent, its not MTN that is incompetent but certain individuals in the company as a result since the company is not doing anything about it you end up blaming it, its only fair
@ Cande, that's why i said not every corner in SA is governed by the ANC, it might be themajory party but it is NOT the only part.
maybe we must learn to address isssues to people concerned, if they fail us address them to their superiors .... The company can never do anything about things they dont know of .... Wecan complain from the sunrise until the sunset but if we are not complaining to the right people then we will never get the results we anticipate.

akere even the voce prompt on MTN line tells you to take the name of the consultant, then go figure, they need you to tell them if you were not satisfied with the help you needed.

I presume it's safe now to draw conclusions and close the argument, we have seen HZ's & ANCYL's letter and any sane person can therefore compare the two and see who's been racist. The ANC has distanced itself and feel embarassed about the YL's statement and I bet some of the bloggers are still proud about the YL's statement.

All I wish for now is for the ANC to deliver on it's promises in the same rate as the stadiums and other infrastructures for the 2010 World Cup are being built, I need to see the urgency and the report of what has been done.

In order to track and monitor their performance I think they need to have the list with 1 to 15 promises made since 94 and as soon as one promise is fulfilled it should be crossed off the list to the last item.

Where is this thing of giving back to the community coming from? Giving back would mean that I have taken something from the community or they have help me in some way to be who I am today. How much more should I do over and above paying tax?

It's always find people who have been living in squatter camps for the past 15 yrs, pasting posters of ANC on their ugly, falling apart shacks without electricity during elections saying the ruling party will help them while at the same time working for white owned companies. Call me whatever but I really don't feel nothing for this type.
Any opinions expressed are those of the author and do not necessarily constitute the views of the Company.

For the past 15 years it has been an ANC majority province and on cutting edge most counsillors who were always not delivering are ANC councilors... I will give you an example of a Taung municipality led by ANC..there is this road that the municipal manager has authorised that its complete and payments has been made whereas nothing has happened on that gravel road.
