The Amazing Race 12Premiere date: Monday, 7 September 2009 at 20h00
Runs weekly on Mondays
The Amazing Race returns for Season 12: the race spans 30,000 miles in 21 days, making it the shortest course since Season 8.
Racers cover four continents and visit 5 countries - 5 of which are previously unvisited. The newly visited countries are Ireland, Burkina Faso, Lithuania, Croatia and Taiwan.
Also, for the first time, the finish line isn't in the US - the showdown ends in Alaska - the northernmost point of any race.
The season also introduces two new twists to the race, the U-Turn and the Speed Bump. The U-Turn allows racers to force another team behind them to complete the other side of the Detour they didn't complete.
The Speed Bump requires a team that finishes last in a non-elimination leg to perform an additional task in the next leg, while other teams are still racing. The U-Turn and the Speed Bump each occur in two episodes.
The season's 11 teams include married ministers, dating Goths, and siblings.
Coming soon: keep a lookout for TVSA's Show Page for profiles on each of the teams.
