A RECAP OF DAY 11 IN THE HOUSE IN WHICH THE GIRLS COMPLETED THEIR NDUDA TASK AND THE GUYS CHUCKED POTATOES:
Day 11 saw the completion of both the men’s Bootcamp task and the ladies’ Nduda task, a potato attack, tears and a little bit of tension.
The ladies started the day off with a diary session. Paloma claimed that she had decided that her strategy WAS to eliminate her biggest threat or opponent. Kristal told Big Brother that her strong personality may lead her to clash with Maggie - who she also saw as a backstabber.
As part of their Nduda task, the ladies had to present speeches about why they deserve to stay in the Big Brother Revolution house.
Rene told Africa she was doing it for Namibia, while Elizabeth burst into tears while telling the rest of the housemates about growing up without a father and having to take care of her family.
Edna was optimistic, pointing out that she is in the house because of her work ethic. She promised to dedicate her work to educating the children of Angola.
Mzamo spoke from the heart about being an ‘original Malawian’ and Maggie told Africa she is ‘full of variety’.
Liz dedicated her speech to "being real and fabulous" while Geraldine gave love to her home country, Nigeria.
Elizabeth’s tearful presentation set of a domino effect amongst the ladies - while several cried during her speech, several other ladies followed suit over some celebratory drinks later as emotions ran high.
Tears aside, some of the girls set their sights on some of the male housemates: Emma thought Jeremy is “hot” while Jennifer liked “the one with the beard” (Hannington). Yacob also got a lot of talktime during their viewing sessions.
The final day of the men’s Bootcamp task involved peeling as many potatoes as possible, as fast as possible.
While getting on with the task, though, the two teams come under vicious attack from an unseen foe. Potatoes aimed at the housemates could be seen flying in from outside walls, but the troops valiantly stuck to their task.
At the end of the afternoon, the buckets of peeled potatoes were delivered to Nobuhla Hostel and the Noah orphanage in Alexandra, Johannesburg - so the housemates’ hard work wasn’t in vain.
Tensions rose, though, after the red team twice managed to snatch the green team’s mascot - the agreement between the two teams was that as long as the respective mascot was in someone’s hand or attached to them, the other team was not allowed to snatch it.
According to Yacob, Leonel snatched the mascot out of his hand, ruling the ‘victory’ null and void - but Leonel maintained that Yacob let his guard down and that he was too proud to admit that he let his team down.
Eventually, though, the red team got their hands on the green team’s mascot legitimately with a heroic capture by Phil, Hannington and Leonel.
To end off the task, the housemates were provided with ingredients for a dinner,. Awards were handed out, acceptance speeches made and mascots honourably discharged. The evening was sealed with a reward of cigars and cognac - which led to a toast to evicted comrades Wayoe and Teddy.
