Coming up on Cutting Edge tonight:

Episode Title: Gugu Mzimba - Khala Nhliziyo
Broadcast date: 15 October 2009

In July this year Cutting Edge travelled to Temba near Hammanskraal where the show met ugogo Setati, an elderly woman who was allegedly kicked out of her home by her only grandson.

She lived on the streets and survived by the grace of people around her. She was lent an RDP house that was cold, empty and not hers.

This week Cutting Edge revisits her to get an update. After the broadcast of the first story, she went in front of a magistrate in court to relay her side of the story. The magistrate was able to see that she was tricked out of a house and ordered that she be returned to her own house.

With the help of the community, Cutting Edge tried to help ugogo to move back to her home. As this episode reveals, it turned out to be a difficult task.

Cutting Edge is on SABC1 on Thursdays at 21h30.

For me the story about the Kids who got beaten up by the bus drivers was the most painful. kids are like angels. they are at schools to be groomed and nurtured. if u deprive them of happyness u messing with their early development. Can't believe the teacher even have a nerve to attack the camera men and couldn't care less and was so abusive. these kids will grow up with anger and will be drop outs and the next thing they are on the street begging for food because they need easy way out. they will always associate school with pain. shame on the department of education for not monitoring the stuation and making a followu-up there

Shame Gogo is soooooooooooo innocent! she's like a child now all she needs is love from her familly. I'm with u there guys, they going to kill her. i like her weardrop and bed BTW. yo the house is beautiful and the furniture inside is not bad, Gogo has a good choice when it comes to decorations.

that grandsone is a devil, taking gogo's house and furniture like that is Satanist.

Gogo is def not safe in there...
Re the kids who were abused, the teachers were suspended and the driver was fired, they did a follow up episode a few weeks ago. The kids gave feedback on how they were treated after they spoke out about the abuse.
Big up to the cutting edge team..

iya gogo is not safe there......the grandson and his mother must go get their own houses even if it's a shack as long as they live gogo alone

I think the magistrate should have asked the boy & the mother to leave Gogo's house.. get a restraining order

TheLady
16 Oct 2009 10:45

"I think the magistrate should have asked the boy & the mother to leave Gogo's house.. get a restraining order" yip, my thoughts exactlyy..how is she gonna stay with someone who doesn't want her there? The magistrate should have sent her back with a coffin.

Cody

"I think the magistrate should have asked the boy & the mother to leave Gogo's house.. get a restraining order"

Is the magistrate black?if he is, he is afraid of the sangoma...nc nc nc blacks and boloi!

Dang how did i miss this??? Thanks to the cutting edge team. I hope the teachers are suspended without pay.
The bus driver shame i dont feel sorry for him for loosing his job, uguthi ashiye abantwana saying "they smell of urine"?? those kids never chose the condition they live in and he was supposed to understand as an old person.

The teachers, most of them were women. i wonder how will they fill if their own children were getting that type of treatment..
big ups to the cutting edge team nyani!!!

The producer woman tells us so much about herself, her fears, thoughts, worries and victories...last time she was trying to make us realise that she can empathise with gays and lesbos coz she is too light in complexion. When she appeared damn woman wasn't even that light! My grandmother ohlala emafamu working her garden in the scotching KZN sun is still 5 shades lighter than her...

Cande

Sometimes I don't get the point yale show...is it to expose or help?

Both i think, some situations are way beyond their control, but i think they do try to help where they can

Mafresh
16 Oct 2009 11:11

Nna I have never seen of a teacher who's kids attend a kassie school, they take them to better schools in town. Because they themselves dont trust or have confidance in what they r doin

TheLady
16 Oct 2009 11:15

"expose and help at the same time, why are you asking TheLady?"
I don't watch all the episodes, but the ones I have watched I have seen them help these people halfway...I am left asking myself is it a case of 'half loaf is better than none?" eg ugogo ohleli nesangoma that doesn't want her, the lil girl in the EC who skips scholl to look after mommy dearest...in both these shows they ask for help from the useless gov offices (the producer says the she doesn't expect them to do anything about it, but still go to them for help *puzzled look*) It just looks like they are using the poor people to expose the uselesness kahulumeni...

blueroze
16 Oct 2009 11:31

If that is gogo house why the law doesn't kick out those people there and live ugogo to live with whom ever she wants to live with. The guys must move out of that house for gogo.
if I am not mistaken I heard that the title deed is now in the sangoma's name
they took it from gogo giving her a story about "they want it at school". that is why the house is no longer in her name

I also think that the sangoma might kill gogo, esp because gogo said that he once said that he will do so and destroy any eveidence that might link him to gogo's death.

last time she was trying to make us realise that she can empathise with gays and lesbos coz she is too light in complexion. When she appeared damn woman wasn't even that light!
i think I know why you say this. But what I conluded on when I was watching the lesbian and gay one was that the narrator of the story is a lesbian who did not want to appear on the camera's
and i think their voices are different
that lesbian and gay one was sad. mara i loled when B and the single ladies were performing.

It just looks like they are using the poor people to expose the uselesness kahulumeni...
le nna i sometimes dont get the point really
just like this week's Speak Out
that girl was not helped and I didnt hear a "watch this space for more on this issue" statement

why air it if it did not work out?

who watched Zola 7 yesterday? sho that woman, Zola did so much for her and she becomes so ungreatful when she receives groceries and stuff , she showed no gratitude at all, she was acting as if Zola owed her those things....if i was zola i would have left her there telling her that she doesnt want to be helped mos.....sho and that woman can cry bafethu.nxa! TheLady
16 Oct 2009 12:03

Don't start about that woman Cody, I don't understand this mentality of being 'entitled to free everything' coz you are just lazy. Oh at Rhema they were telling her about a family therapist, hayi usisi athi ufuna indlu otherwise uzozibulala...uZola is too nice...I'd have said 'Go ahead then" They were even offering her training so that she can make money...nooooo she wants a free house!!

Zola killed me though when he said "kumele uyekele ukukhala ngoba uyanginyanyisa" hahaha.

kumele uyekele ukukhala ngoba uyanginyanyisa" LMAO!!!, you know when Zola mentioned it to the viewers, i thought she wont tell her, he really cracked me up when he told her straight, she was so embarassed she kept on saying "ngizozama baba,ya, ngizozama" uyadelela lo mama...sho!

and that girl (near the end) said that she would be happy if they receive councelling because that woman will end up killing them, because they fight all the time. nc nc nc, that woman is deranged! she has a huge problem yena nje, it was not just the house.

BTW what was wrong with that house she was living in?  is she a sangoma or what?

TheLady
16 Oct 2009 12:46

"BTW what was wrong with that house she was living in?" She says the younger sister (the one who said she'd appreciate councelling) wants her out...*rolling my eyes* Just looked like she doesn't wanna share the house with her siblings.

She burnt her bro with paraffin Codz, that's why they ended up eRhema that is where she took him...and the bro is about 14/15yrs old.She also said her step daddy molested her...all in hope of getting an RDP house nx lazy bum.

Bathong TheLady, that woman ke cruella mos??shame poor boy!!

i would understand why the sister wants her out, if its true that is,because really how on earth do you live with a person like that?huh?

She wanted Zola to pity her, all in hope of an RDP house? i really hope she doesnt get it, just because of her attitude. Zola said he doesnt work at the department of housing lol!

He,he,he..............I only saw from where Zola telling the lady ukuba uyamnyanyisa........

But ppl, what can you do if you are being thrown at the Dance Factory and be told to do Arts for a living, something you don't understand, and have no interest into, hhayi man the woman was right to be straight, show them that they mustn't try donating material to her cause it was going to be waste.

We people are different, we show our emotions in a diferent way on we don't show them at all, the woman claims she was molested by a stepdad and she lost hope that someone will ever hear her until Zola 7 came to our tellies.

I was once watching that nonsense show on E-tv, Steve Wilkos. The boy was crossed at her mom that she is not crying to show emotions but I forgave him, he is so young to understand emotions.

I am saying the woman was right, but think a little.

I am saying the woman was right, but think a little.

I meant : I am NOT saying the woman was right, ofcause she had to show some appreciation.
