On 3rd Degree on Tuesday (27 October, 2009):

Episode Title: Boy Or Girl?
Broadcast date: 27 October 2009

The debacle around Caster Semenya has thrown the plight of people born with both male and female sex organs into the spotlight.

Tonight two intersexed individuals living in Khayelitsha, Cape Town tell 3rd Degree their tragic stories. Bullied, teased and marginalised their entire lives, they feel betrayed by their doctors and even their own families.

They speak out strongly against their early sex reassignment surgery. And doctors and social workers explain some of the challenges they face in treating these patients.

The show also explores ways in which people like this can find happiness, healing and hopefully, acceptance.

3rd Degree is on e.tv on Tuesdays at 21h30.

Will we ever hear the end of this???  3rd degree i thought you would come to the gist of Prof. Jansen's decision to pardon the two students and why politicians do not agree with him.

this is a very good idea. we need exposure on this. there is a lot of stigma attached to hemaphrodites. they are not to be blamed. this is just nature. we need to explore, engage and debate this to the fullest. Make sure that there is awareness. Remember the stigma that the gay people were subjected to. Society is gradually accepting them because why ? There is more exposure across the spectrum.

Lets engage people. W e can't blame God. This

My question though is " Where are they ?. They seem to be in hiding. Its not everyday that u see them or hear about them.  u can only give help if u can identify the problem and people associated with it. I know for a fact there is a lot of them but we don't get to see them often. Maybe it will have to start with family members.

They need to make them aware of their plight and encourage them to come out
in that way the society will learn to accept the situation and get used to the to them. I don't think we will judge them.
