BBA-Rev: Open COMPLAINT Letter To Kaya FM

Good day Kaya FM Management

I have for a number of weeks tuned in to listen to the breakfast show for the Big Brother evictee interviews. I am sadly disappointed in the quality of the questions and the knowledge portrayed by the team to ask questions that the public want to hear. 

I believe that the Big Brother show has a major following all over Africa and Kaya FM is a media partner because the radio banner and evicted housemates get shown in your studios each Sunday. With the station being available on the Dstv bouquet it is accessible to everyone all over the world (I assume). 

However, the breakfast team is clueless on the show, they don’t have relevant questions to ask and the interview is cluttered with adverts for your 2 strangers and a wedding competition which probably has a following only in Gauteng as all the contestants are based in Gauteng. Or do you have entrants from Tanzania? AND to me, it is a travesty that people that love and watch Big Brother Africa all over the world are getting such a second rate, not even that, a crappy rate of an interview. 

I get emails, calls and sms from people following the Big Brother show all over the world (Ghana, China, Namibia, Nigeria, England – to name a few) over the internet - on my blog (http://www.tvsa.co.za/default.asp?blogname=bbmotherland2) and also on the official big brother website – that are sssooooo disappointed in the quality of the interview they have to hear of the evicted housemates. 

Everybody that listens to a radio show knows that there is a program that needs to be followed and advertising keeps the radio stations alive but if the radio station feeds the listeners what they do not want to hear – What is the point of it existing? What is the point of Big Brother show having a media partner that doesn’t keep listeners and followers of the show informed? 

We spend a lot of money on the show voting for the evicted housemates, the least we need and are asking for is a proper send off in the form of an interview with relevant questions, informed interview panel and enough time for the interview with no other clutter or muck about your current competition. 

My request and the request of the people that watch the Big Brother Africa show is a quality interview. That interview is our first, and maybe last, of hearing the evicted housemate express their viewpoint about the things they did, said, experienced and believe whilst inside the house. They deserve a good send off as they are our least favourite housemate, so please give them such.

Thank you Sego. The breakfast team is dead. Everything about it is just dead. A more lively person or persons should given that slot. The music is even horrendous.

A set of questions should be prepared well in advance. Asking if a person thinks they represented their family well is not entertainment.

On a serious note, it looks like Multichoice / DSTV are no longer interested in a whole lot of things.

As a producer,  I would want to know what is happening with my partners, so I will have someone tuning in every monday to hear what Africa is saying.  Are they okaying the crap their are receiving grom Kaya?  Is this what they agreed on?  Settling for this?  Endemol, Multichoice, DSTV - get your act together.

Now you pipo at Kaya FM - is this how you are planning to get your listeners back?  Or is this your way of attracting new listeners?  You are doing such a terrible job.  You need a long term plan and this 2 strangers thing is short term. It does not EXIST AFTER 11 DECEMBER.  What next?

Please, think, strategise beyond 11 December 2009.  I used to look forward to your evictees interviews but not any more. I rely on Namibian news to amuse me and answer any questions I might have had.

Psychobeths interview:  These are the questions I still want answered.  Please get her back into the studio - how, I don't know and I dont care.

1. I still want to know what was all that argument she had with Eddie after realising that she's up?

2.  If she was expecting to be nominated, why did she not pack her stuff?  Why did she not wear that Indian dress she so wanted to wear during her eviction?

3.  What made you think that you are better than Nkenna?  Is it because she was never in Ms 9ijas top 10 list?

To Kaya FM Management

I have been listening to the new Morning team since Phat Joe was fired from the station. I have been totally disappointed at the way in which the breakfast show has been run. I t has become dull and boring to say the least.

A breakfast show (in my opinion) should be entertaining as we drive to work and it should be more lively than what we are getting. I switched to kaya fm when Bad boy T ran down the morning show on Metro FM and I believe that Kaya FM's morning show will suffer the same fate. The morning interviews are lifeless and do not tackle the real essence of the shows “interviews”. The BBA Revolution interviews have been disappointing. The presenters seem to be clueless as to what happens on Big brother and one cant help it but get a sense that they do not even watch big brother. Even the widely advertised 2 Strangers and a Wedding is disappointing. It seems that the presenters are afraid to ask relevant questions and seem to be playing it safe as far as interviews are concerned. Needless to say, the Interviewing skills are pathetic

As a media partner to BBA, more interesting questions regarding the real dealings in the house should be asked. Not questions that do not give us inside of what really goes on in the house. If the presenters do not know what to ask they must please refer to Segololo's blog titled BBA-Rev: Questions For Idiotz on TVSA in which questions for outgoing housemates are asked. It is truly sad that loyal followers of BBA have resorted to reading The Namibian in order to get answers to some much needed truths about the house and housemates. It is sad that we have to get an outside source to do more in depth interviews while our very own radio stations fail to deliver on much needed entertainment. This is real TV surely the questions should be hard hitting questions. With Kaya FM being available on DSTV it means it can be accessed my millions of people in the continent and the quality of interviews which have been put forward for BBA followers is horrendous.

Please see to it that the presenters prepare well in advance for such interviews, otherwise they must get people to call in to ask questions themselves. The morning team also needs to shape up or ship out. The show is boring and the music very depressing.

I changed my my usual morning ritual, AK on full blast, while I try to awaken my senses with  multiple cups of coffees after. shower.  This morning I swapped AK for Kaya FM cause I wanted to hear the answers to my burning questions. I denied myself some AK magic for THAT!  HAIBO!!!

They did not even go easy on her, they go all smootchies on her. They are not watching the show.  Finnish and klaar. 

Like Jellytots said, just do hope that the relevant people would read the letters. And they are not under Naija spell, hold or whatever, that Naija super powers don't control the interview questions also.

Your belief that this show has major following all over Africa is wrong as it is failing to attract adequate viewers in Gauteng not mentioning KZN, Mpumalanga, Cape etc where I have younger siblings who only know me as Big Brother.

I tried to watch this thing 2 years back and couldn't stomach it for 2 minutes, hearing about it on radio would be like someone pushing a hard hot pointed object up my backside.

I'm not trying to be fresh or anything but people must not come and frustrate us here, what is next? Maybe ask PSL and Marks Maponyane to interview players who were on the bench?

Firstly this is not an instruction to get Kaya FM to ask questions that less than 10 people want to hear - it is an instruction to get Kaya FM to ask relevant questions.  

Secondly, this is not about quantity rather quality.  It is about the kind of questions they ask the idiotz.  It is not about the number of people  posting questions.

You are about to turn me into D7s with a thesis..

there may only be 10 people or so active bloggers on the show but the ratings for the show are not only for the 10 people otherwise the show would have died a long time ago... the show keeps coming back each year as millions of viewers accross Africa enjoy watching and experiencing it...

You may be the other half of the millions that do not watch or get the show... we never requested Kaya to be media partner, we never requested Kaya to do the interviews but since they opeted to do it, they need to do it right!

TVSA is not the only website nor is it the only place mentioned with information on this show for the clueless Kaya fm breakfast show to ask relevant questions to those that are interested in teh Big brother show... they can source the information and ask the relevant questions that viewers want answers to. They ask listeners to sms/email questions in but they never bother to use those questions...

If they do not want to be a media partner for this show, they don't have to and they also can cancel that 5 minutes of interviews if they feel it is not relevant for their market... some radio show in Tanzania, Ghana or Ethopia will take the offer and be the informed media partner... 

2 strangers and a wedding only has desperate Gauteng has-beens trying to get hitched to complete strangers... hell! Kaya fm is only a regional station! not even national... they can give the media partnership to some other international or national station and Big Brother fans won't complain!

I'm trying to understand why would a sober-minded, sane and perfectly normal person would watch this crap but my reason is failing me. This crap should never even be shown in mental institutions, patients will never recover.

Kaya is boring as is on itself and should never have agreed to air this *bleep!*. If 2 strangers & a wedding contestants are desperate Gauteng has-beens then who the hell are the big brother contestants? Which national station will accept this thing? Ukhozi FM?

Surely you don't expect Kaya FM to take this show seriously or it's boring followers who get excited just by watching unknown people doing nothing but digging noses and scratching bums/scrotums for the whole day.

In SA there's no target market for this thing except that 0.000000001% of the population that is not normal and get addicted to anything, I now know why smoking *bleep!* is prohibited.

I thought this is a free country, where everyone is entitled to choose what entertains them/ what they feel is entertainment to them.

I agree, you do not like the show........so please don't come here and start giving us your opinions about the show.....because they are merely that.....your opinions and as much as you are entitled to them, they don't bother some of us at all and won't make us change our perception of bba.

Your ignorance baffles me, your insults make me pity you... 

I would never make or pass judgements on people who watch soccer or soccer analysts, it is their entertainment and they have every right to dress up whichever way they like and feel, scream anyhow they like and celebrate whichever way they like... I will not go on their forums, blogs or shows and insult them for not understanding their entertainment, I let them be....

We are all different and get different pleasure from different things - some get pleasure from watching scrotum scratching strangers whilst others ger pleasure from watching scrotums running on a football field after a round leather thing ands some get pleasure for BEING scrotums on my blog... and that is life... 

the creators and sponsors of Big brother and their media partners chose to create a show for those that choose to watch it and they benefit financially out of that abnormal show, just as much as they benefit out of any other topic that gets explored on talk shows and analyst shows... 

We are the analysts of Big Brother and it doesn't have to make sense but our concerns and complaints have to be taken seriously... if you feel that as consumers when we have a issue we must sush because the 1 person feels t is not important to them, then you have it all wrong! even as that 0,000000001% you consider us, Endemol and or Mnet and /or Multichoice produce the show each and every year for us for a full 3 months without fail! 

THAT is power we have!

At least with other sports like soccer, cricket, netball etc you can tell where it is going and what is the main purpose of the game.

Generations is much better than this crap even the Ekasi stories which were not watchable are way better than this show.

tholi - for me to understand any sports or show, I have to give it time and attention. I have to follow the happening or league and learn the rules and watch the players. When i know who is my fave player, I will support him/her and encourage their success in the sport. I will make comparison with other players, their game plan and everything they offer onto the game. That is the same with biggie - you watch the show with an open mind.

tholi - biggie is unfortunately a 24hr show but all you need is to watch the highlights each nite and the big shows on monday and sunday and you can understand the players and their game plan. If you really love the shoow, watcching an average of 5hrs thru the day is fine... This does not mean literally watching the telly the whole time - just peaking when you see the interesting players doing something...

tholi - watching snippets of it will never make it appealing or understandable. A friend of mine says he watches biggie with the viewpoint that i took him to a braai, he doesn't know anyone there except me and I am busy somewhere in the braai so he is watching a group of guests interacting with each other but since he doesn't know them well, can only watch and not comment... Lol!

If you really know me you would know that any show with paedophiles would be highly unlikely be supported by me and my disgust would not be silenced for anybody that even attempts to have a show like that on my hard-earned tv subs paying hands and being would feel my wrath. Anywho, you assume that everybody gets the point for the sports you listed but you forget that only the people that watch & support those sport would get the point & those that do not care or find pleasure in them would get the point. The point for us, addicts/mourners, is who gives us entertainment value via convs, controversy, interaction with others, personalities, eagerness to please to win the monex. The power we have to decide how entertained we are by whoever is waaaayyy diff from sports..

Another thing, I think generation is rubbish and soccer is not for me but i will not judge anyone who watches the show/matches as insane and sies...even though the actors sometimes disgust me and the soccer players that spit and roll on it while faking a fall... Nor would i call the show/match, actors/players and watchers worthy of being in psychosuits... I will simply let them be and allow to express their distress about the show/match without me getting all cruel on them and their choice of entertainment. Just let this go & let those that choose this type of entertainment & support it have their say abt improvements & complaints to all media partners involved in the show & making money off them. None of us cared when santana screwed all soccer players, supporters &safa.
