Has he really crossed the line now???

What happened to responsible journalism? Has our president really pushed us this far???  Shuuu!!

I like Jonathan Shapiro and I've always enjoyed his work, nhe.. but today... when i saw this.. I couldn't laugh or anything.... my hand went straight to cover my mouth.... I AM SHOCKED!!

And embarrassed at the same time...

No people! there needs to be a line drawn somewhere. Zuma is still a father of this nation (in all true sense of this statement.lol) He is still an elder..

It does not matter what your father does or doesn't do to embarrass himself.. that never ever gives you a right to disrespect and insult him. Never!

Tjo!  Hayi!

I worry ke coz i am indifferent about zapiro's cartoons about him. Beyond the humour (however "unaccepatable") i get the point, the message,i dunno.....I do have empathy for those affected. But if they are affected terribly by this they must take measures to bring him to order...

@sana lwam

he should start acting like one, bagaetsho democracy is a modern concept, with civilized/modern practices.

Zuma is not a Chief, he's a president and he should understand that.

he brought this upon himself and in a democratic society people like Zapiro will draw cartoons according to his actions.

yesterday i saw michelle obama's pictures depicted as a monkey, i nearly got worked up but i realized that not so long ago they did the same to Bush, so it's part of the whole political game if u can't handle the heat get out

Zapiro ke skhokho straight,I also cant wait for the next cartoon.I honestly don’t fell sorry for JZ,the only people I feel sorry for are his kids.I hope his actions will teach him to always remember that there are consequences for every action he takes. He must be feeling very bad for the shame he has put his children through, coz this cant be easy for the poor kids.

If this does not make him change his ways…then I honestly don’t know what will.I’m not saying he should discontinue marrying (actually I am saying that coz as taxpayers we are paying somehow to the upkeep of his wives and children) but how about going about it the ‘right’ way,u don’t put up a roof and start with the foundation later akere!

09 Feb 2010 16:08

Cariri, let me help you understand the difference between Clinton and Zuma

Clinton had one wife, he was using tax-payers money to fund one family, he had sex with Slutswinky - he did not use the government money to fund her expenses - she did not qualify for off-loading from the tax-payers money, they did not bear children... I do not condone what he did, he also disgusts me but since his wife forgave him, all I can do is have an opinion... Same as Zuma...

BUT with Zuma, it impacts my pocket how many children he acknowledges, how many marriages and girlfriends he has.. I pay for it, so do you and everyone that is a tax-payer in this country. when he says "I do", "come here, leave the condom" and a baby pops out... WE, the tax-payers, FEEL it cause the money to support, indulge, entertain, have birthday parties, have weddings, have private hospital fees paid for his huge family is done by our money, not his salary!!

Our roads, our hospitals, our schools and houses could use that extra little (used now to support his family) bit to help our people and country and also curb the service delivery issues...

So, do you get why we can't compare...?

Lex
09 Feb 2010 16:19

Ke sono ka di loyalists tsa Zuma.

carino
09 Feb 2010 16:23

Wabona, Sego.. thats what I want to hear... lets state facts, lets bring intelligent arguments to the table.. Not just call him insult him coz we've read somewhere that he apparently "sleeps around"  .

Lets not disrespect the president out of group-think.... and we go around passing insults here and there with no understanding, and with statements we cant support with facts.

We can argue this case how ever we want to, but lets still maintain the respect.. we cant go around painting the president's private parts and we say it's coz he hasnt held them to himself... Thats just wrong.

Besides, it looks like the president had children with all his wives before marrying them. He has kept a consistent record of sleeping with them before tying the knot.
We voted him president with all his children... most born out of wedlock. .. Why do we suddenly have a problem with bastardsy now???

So, lets argue intelligently, people... and still respect the elders... It doesnt matter whether they earn th erespect or not.. Elders do not earn respect... they just deserve it.

carino
09 Feb 2010 16:30

Ke sono ka di loyalists tsa Zuma.

Waitse nhe, Lex.. nna im not a Zuma loyalist at all - i have never been... even with the elections, I only ended up giving him an emotional vote coz the only other option I had was  Helen Zille.... but when the day approached she started doing all these things.. disrespecting msholozi and acting all crazy.. So i put that cross next to the mshini... and voila..... my president took office..

Segololo
09 Feb 2010 16:34

<<We voted him president with all his children>> no, nana... not some of us... Same the majority, I was part of the minority... KSPKD!

<<Elders do not earn respect... they just deserve it>>
if he acts like he is 13, being controlled by hormones and the arrow on Zapiro's pic, I choose not to respect him cause he is not taking responsibility of being an elder, does not carry his deeds like an elder... So, nna ka se kgone! he doesn't deserve mine, my elders (ones that respect themselves, their families and their deeds) will get it as they deserve it...

Jah neh!!!
Of lately I choose what I respond to not becuase I don't have anything to say, but we seem to faill in having a decent debate.  Nonetheless, here is my 2 cents worth.

ZAPIRO is out of order, period. Yes, satire???? Not so sure. Clearly the president has an addiction problem.  Why don't we help him instead of mocking.

From a christian perspective, both gentlemen are in the wrong.  Mr President for breaking the 7th commandment and Zapiro for breaking the 5th commandment.
Now two wrongs don't make a right.

Like I said sometime last week, I will still vote ANC, does not matter whose pic is on the ballot paper.  Unless a new party comes to play nicely with me.

That is me.  LET ME TAKE COVER.

forgiveness is good for us even the bible encourages it as some of you have quoted but right now all we need to do is to forgive Msholozi and let him do the honourable thing and step down as president because at the rate we're going we'll end up forgiving future paedophiles, murderers, rapists, pimps presidents.

FK
09 Feb 2010 18:59

Toody - I don't think that kind of help with help him nor the nation.  We need to find out from Tiger Woods if his willing to share his psychologist number.

da diva - Right now, I think my pres, must just step down and fix his life.  After the shower issue, Mr Pres wrote an apology.  And now he is writing another one.  It sounds to me that if he does not get help, we will be reading another apology from him.  I am no saint, I have my faults but, St Paul gives us guidelines into what we need to look for when choosing leaders.  And unfortunately, he does not cut it.

Him stepping down does not mean the presidency will be given to the other parties.  It will still stay with the ANC.  Then they can go back to the drawing board and elect a man with one wife and sober habits from their pool.  Like I said I don't care who becomes the countries president.  As long as that person comes from the ANC.  Mr Motlhanthe maybe.  Does he have one wife?

Chapter 5 - The President and National Executive

Section 89. Removal of President

The National Assembly, by a resolution adopted with a supporting vote of at least two thirds of its members, may remove the President from office only on the grounds of
a.  serious violation of the Constitution or the law;
b.  serious misconduct; or
c.  inability to perform the functions of office.

Anyone who has been removed from the office of President in terms of subsection (1) (a) or (b) may not receive any benefits of that office, and may not serve in any public office.

@Segs - But Mbeki never violated any of those, his party recalled him. He still has the benefits

He was asked to resign following a Pietermaritzburg High Court judgment that Mbeki may have been involved in a political conspiracy against ruling party leader Jacob Zuma.  (in my mind that would be a. serious violation of the Constitution or the law; )

What falls under serious misconduct?
They need to start breaking this down and not use a blanket to cover it.

You know, even if he resigns his family still gets security and all the crap previous presidents get so he really has niks to lose but a position...

Id rather have him resign/ fired / recalled (keep or not the benefits) than having him continuing writing future apologies.

What's done is done - what do you suggest going forward?

I never felt Mr Prez and did not vote because of him.

What I don't like about newspapes is that if it is a black person they go as far as Zapiro went on this one, if it were a white person he would have restrained himself... that is hipoccrisy newspapers practice...

has he commented about Rhema church pastor divorcing for the second time, the Vodacom scandal has been swept under  the carpet although more allegations are coming out against the former CEO Alan Knott-Craig...

What so I suggest going forward?

Tiger woods to give him his shrink's doctor's digits...

To limit his budget on his harem and broods... any new wives and children have to be supported by his salary, not tax-money

Maybe a vasectomy would do and an HIV test result publicized (I know this is pushing it and a wrong - crossing the line not because of culture but emotions)

all his friends who have girl-children over 15 to not allow any contact with him

maybe if he also learns to answer questions when interviewed, that would be a bonus

Otherwise, I don't see him redeeming himself in my eyes.. regardless of what he does.

and you think this can be achieved?  lol  Who will run the country whilest busy implementing all these?

I just want him to step down.  YES I said it, I voted for ANC, nothing personal. I just want them to appoint a good leader.

My understanding is that Monthanthe forfeited those benefits after he was sworn in as the Deputy President that is why Baleka Mbete did not want to occupy any other post other than that of being Deputy President so she could still enjoy those benefits.

President Zuma does not deserve such disrespect, yes he might have gone overboard but he is still the PRESIDENT and i fail to understand why he should resign, he has not done anything to me that suggests that he is not fit for the presidency.

couple in Isidingo. Parsons wants a baby with Thandi. However Parsons, the guy, cannot father babies (or, can he?).

So Zeb (Parsons' father) helps his son (Parsons) out by donating his sperm to Thandi. Thandi undergoes artificial insemination with Zeb's sperm but Parsons doesn't know this.

When Thandi becomes pregnant she is not sure whether Parsons is the father or Zeb is, because immediately after the insemination she slept with her husband.. So she does a partenity test on this unborn baby to find out who the real father is

The partenity test comes back. Thandi opens it. She reads the results. She is shocked. Very shocked, very, very shocked. The father of the baby is Jacob Zuma.

@Mathaz
- yes he does not deserve such disrespect.  In fact, no one deserves such mockery no matter what position you hold.

In terms of not understanding why he should resign ......  To me he is the Prez of the country.  Now he must portray leadership charecteristics and traits.  One of the PERSONAL QUALITIES that EVERY leader (whether born or developed) should possess is an examplary character

It is of utmost importance that a leader is trustworthy to lead others. A leader needs to be trusted and be known to live their life with honestly and integrity. A good leader “walks the talk” and in doing so earns the right to have responsibility for others. True authority is born from respect for the good character and trustworthiness of the person who leads

hm..all this benefits, some forfeit, some do not, some hold on to previous posts to keep hold of,...soo depressing to come to know, no wonder there is so much corruption in the gov...everyone wants a peice of the pie.....
No wonder the loyalists have each other's backs even when they screw up,  to ensure that they all get something, talk about loyalty misplaced.... Sad thing is that the loyalists on the ground arent getting anything from keeping them up there....sad sad sad....

@FK.....I like the reasons you state for his call to resign but my argument has always been why you voted vor him knowing very well that he is a polygamist and it's not like at that time he only had 3 children with one wife.  By voting for the ANC you automatically voted for Zuma coz he is their leader and there is no way the ANC would let him go...the guy is a unifier and the ANC knows very well that they won the election because they had him as their leader.  The ANC has got much to lose should he step down.

The president's principles, norms, culture, attitude, beliefs and norms may vary from mine and yours and that should have been a wake up call to not vote for him.  Yes, i like him as a person but as a leader, NO.

FK
10 Feb 2010 11:54

So true Mathaz - Im one those who voted him and yes, I knew about him being a polygamist.......... I thought hoped he will put getting more wives and kids on hold until his last term.  But ALAS.

If you scroll up, I did vote for ANC and his face was on the ballot paper.  Even if they had Juju's face there, I would still vote them.

Ja neh, lets just hope, I mean really hope (if not recalled) he will put his personal lifestyle on hold and run the country.

next time he'll think twice before doing anything that might be viewed in a negative manner, if all respectable public figures can do that then so can he. plus his timing sucks. i don't think the headlines would have been so bad so soon after his very long walk to the presidency seat and esp so close to the world cup...

ZUMA SAYS : -

Zuma was on a lekker holiday in Durbs. One day he heard from his friends
that there was a fancy dress ball, and he could go.

The dress theme was to symbolize a country. Unsure what to do, he hid in
a bush outside the hall and watched what was going on.

A woman arrived scantily dressed in a few feathers. When the doorman
asked what country she was she said " Turkey ", so he said, "Feathers,
Turkey, OK you can go in".

Another beautiful and shapely woman arrived clad only in a "G" string,
Her body smeared with oil. She said she was Iran. Oil, Iran " OK go
in.

So then Zuma sauntered up to the door naked except for a brown paper
packet placed over his manhood and said he was from Pakistan

The doorman could not understand and asked Zuma to explain:

"Bring daardie twee meisies uit, dan sal jy sien hoe hierdie pakkie staan!!!"
