On Carte Blanche Consumer tonight (11 February):

E-Filing

Punted as a move towards hyper-efficiency and convenience, SARS says that two million individual tax payers and 350 000 businesses filed their taxes through the e-filing system for 2009. But for many consumers SARS’ move to tax filing over the Internet has proved anything but convenient.

The show investigate why even seasoned tax consultants consider the new system a bureaucratic nightmare.

Presenter: Devi Sankaree Govender

Medical Aid

Fully comprehensive medical aid cover can be expensive. But it’s a price many South Africans are willing to pay to ensure their families are guaranteed private medical care. In its fourth week on air, Carte Blanche Consumer probes cases where a medical aid scheme has not delivered on their promise of aid at a time when vulnerable people needed it most.

Presenter: Devi Sankaree Govender
Producer: Backyard Productions

Caret Blanche Consumer is on M-Net on Thursdays at 19h00.
