Why I dont Celebrate Valentines Day

My ten reasons.....

Well besides the fact that i am broke...I just never ever understoood the whole hype about V-Day(excuse the pun)..

1. i find it very Cliche, and not relevant to me...

2. Its childish and lame...I mean even 12 year olds celebrate it...
3. What will I do with a red and white Teddy Bear? ooooh not forgetting the mug  and red plastic rose....hmmmm

4. To me its just a money making scheme and to get rid of all that red material, as it sells slowly(grrr i hate red).

5. I am a black girl, and you know how un-creative some of our black brothers are...this is to save him the embarassment and hardwork...oh and myself for having to fake a smile...

6. Speaking about faking....I hate planned sex!!!

7. Avoind the dissapointment of things not going according to plan...

8. I beleive that each couple should have their slpecial day, and not celebrate other ppls day..

9. Hopefully my neighbours will be playing some nice calm music, than the rock they ussually play... and will make love instead of "uhmmmm" (u know what i mean)... they make too much noise... maybe i could get a good nights rest...

10. Last, but not least, I AM SINGLE!!!

..............sorry for not adding pic, i dont know how...................

So why do you, or dont you celebrate V-day??

I dont celebrate it because I  just dont like it.

One experience that I still remember about Valentines day

At school- A class mate of mine bought me baloons and plastic rose and a card.
I tore up the card in his face and when the prefects delivered the balloons and flowers they would interrupt class and ask for that person. They called my name and I told them to take those flowers back to that idiot who sent them and he must leave me the *bleep!* alone. Needless to say they didnt leave and they ended up standing there with the baloons and the Teacher chased me out of class to handle my issues.

I went outside and asked those girls who send me those things and they said it's this classmate of mine and when I looked at him he had such a grin on his face (this was before I tore his card).

So I took the flowers and the balloon and walked back into class.  Threw the flower in the bin and took the balloons to him, in front of the whole class, and told him to take his balloons back I dont want them. Then I tore the card in his face and threw it at him

The class laughed at his sorry ass.

l celebrate love everyday, l don't need a specific date to get spoiled or spoil someone. So February the 14th is no different to other days.

lol, nice one sthini

Whether u celebrate it or not, point is, it's unavoidable. If you werent single and your partner wanted to do something special for you on this day, trust me you would have jumped for joy :)

I dont have any quibs with it. There are way too many ills about the world and the society we live in these days so if for just one day we can forget about all that and celebrate love, then I'm happy. Evrything is commercialised this days even death. Are we gonna stop having funerals now that they have become fashion and bling parades AND undertakers are making millions off of us?

Happy valentines guys and spread some love and cheer!!!!

Its funny how its mostly the single people who hate valentines day.
I remember when i was single i was also very nonchalant about it, never said i hate it though, i just didn't give a hoot, cos i was SINGLE!!!
But now i got my boo and i'm still nonchalant about it, we'll just chill over some wine and bond, no extra expenses.

working in a tertiary intitution you'll witness that almost everyweek they'll be an indian couple caught having sex in th staircase, study hall, toilets, abandoned rooms, nje!!!  maybe its because they dont have "ijondi" or outside buildings at home, or they still want to maintain that image of conservative family oriented strict indians while blacks and whites  are doin it left and rite with no shame...LOL
Sthini..you the first BLACK person i know who's got a problem with nosie from neighbours...(whom  I assume are white ) since you mentioned that they ussaully play rock...)...shocked...I'd be happy and pump up my kwaito/house REbecca/Nganzoma/Ncandweni...LOL

i just think black guys/girls are bad at spoiling each other for V-day that's why we hate it, who wouldn't want to be spoilt or showered with love, its a good thing, any excuse or opportunity to celebrate love is great...

11 Feb 2010 16:25

The only reason why i dnt celebrate it, is because round bout the first week of Feb, I act up so tht my girl can leave or get angry with me. After valentines, all comes back to place. I know, thing of the past. Anyway, valentine's day........... so so so 2009

sthini
11 Feb 2010 16:31

I don't celebrate Valentines but if hubby wants to spoil me I will be than willng. It's a day where we recognise LOVE and for me EVERYTHING begins with love.

From animals to human beings. You don't have to buy things and make other people rich. Stay at home cook and have wine............

12 Feb 2010 09:02

The only thing i enjoy about valentines day is the Bashes around ekasi.....Not the lovie dovie stuff.

another thing that makes me despise this valentine thingie...is because for us guys kune perception yokuthi nje all we expect is good sex when women expect the diamonds and perfumes...abafazi ba selfish when it comes to valentines day..they always expect presents when bona all they are willing to give is ...sex...which you always give valentines day or not

I was presented with an evening dress last night as my "valentines gift" (bought 2 weeks ago). On valentines day, we'll probably just chill over pizza and wine and some dessert for the soul. He's not into Vday but he accepts that its something that women are into and for that reason only he lets his woman have his day. I'l just get him something small and sweet or just a mind blowing BJ qha.

true monchooza, well most of us women are guilty of that!we think Vday is a day for men to spoil us, why cant it be both ways so men can look forward to it too. A bottle of his favourite wine or whisky, take him out for dinner/lunch/breakfast/or cook a special meal, buy sexy lingerie and dance for him in it etc..even if he does not buy you a gift, buy him, hopefully he will learn. But this idea of women even holding a grudge hhayi bo, men need love too!!
