SO I checked into the BUD HOUSE on youtube to check out the fanatics from the different regions and countries to find out my fave - from a pic and profile details! You can follow each and every one of them on facebook and twitter so they are not cut off from the world at all it seems…
Let me group them by the group fixtures…
Group A
South Africa – Ezra, 35, photographer and filmmaker, former soccer player and model
He says “I m excited about showing people South Africa. And we’re gonna win the World Cup, man!” (*sigh* I am not warming to him... has that cape town "flair" the rest of the country loves to hate.. LOL!)
France – Daniel, 33, former player, dislikes Italian men *raised eyebrow*
The below video made me wonder if this house is in SA after a woman walked past behind Daniel – her dress sense made me wondere if this was shot in winter cape town south Africa weather
He says “I live with Football. I was born with football. And I will die with football. You go to church, I go to the stadium” (*sigh* a bit drastic… “born with football”)
Uruguay – Quique, 27, rock band lead singer
Apparently his FIRST word was “GOAL!” He says “We are the country that invented the World Cup. We are small, but very big in football” (LOL @ first word… Yah, noh… am certain the parents were heartbroken as parents often hope for mama or papa as the first word. His profile got me smiling so will watch this one closely)
Mexico – Emiliano, 28, football book editor and writer
He says “I know I am a fan because I lose my temper only when I am watching football” (I will watch this one to see if anything else ruffles up his feathers.
Group B Argentina – Gaby, 25, model
One of her first words was “Maradona”. She became a model because she broke her nose playing soccer and her father insisted she stop. She says “I love to play football since I was a little, little child”(I think she tries too hard!)
Nigeria – Lolade, 29, born in a small fishing town
He has played football since he could crawl. He says “As an African, it’s a collective joy when the national teams win, we just forget about everything; the languages, the tribes and the politics
Greece – Maria, 27, loves playing video games and Dungeons and Dragons
She did not follow football when she was young but is now a big fan. She says “I grew up playing video games. A lot” (Yah, noh… she loves video games)
South Korea – Dov, 28, Employee Dance President at work
Likes to work and play hard. He is not ready to just kick back and relax yet. He says “In my lifetime, I’m going to see one of the Asian countries win the World Cup.” (He just looks out of place, methinks)
Group C Algeria – Sabrina, 33, husband is not a football fan
She thinks it would be a miracle for Algeria to win and will also support Brazil, Spain and Argentina. She says “I would like to see Algeria win, but that would be a big event, like a miracle” (Mmmmhhh, very unpatriotic and then pledges to be all friendly with countries she has to be very competitive with. I defs think she did not get the memo on what the show is about.)
Slovenia – Mateja, 28, extremely superstitious about her team
She has never missed a Slovenian football match in Slovenia. She loves to travel. She says “I’m very superstitious when it comes to Slovenian football; I always have to wear my red socks. Always” (I wonder how the socks help, or the colour and how many pairs she brought with to the house. Someone needs to steal that stash to see if her superstition is true *evil laugh*)
England – James, 26, former semi-pro player
He has “broken up with girlfriends over football” and “thinks the whole world is against England”. He used to manage a football center in London. He says “It rules my life. I’ve split up with women because of football” (He needs to try to have kids with a football. Tjo! *ssmh* Just for his patriotic statement, England can go home with the losing 16)
USA – Austin, 31, played division in college and briefly on the US national team
He holds the record “all-time leading goal scorer in the history of Colorado high school athletics” and all his best memories in life revolve around football”. He says “I am a humble person, but I was always the best player on my team” (If you were, dear Austin, “the best player in the team” – your stint in the team would not have been classified as “briefly”. Yah, I don’t like him much… from the minute I heard what he said on the bud house advert video, I couldn’t stand his arrogance)
Group D Germany – Beate, 34, founded the Sirens of Soccer (a charity driven football club for women)
Her parents joined the circus when she was little and she grew up playing football against boys. She says “I am a goofball and a big flirt and have a very good way of getting what I want”(When I was her pic I thought Is this Angie? She is an Angelina Jolie look-alike. Wondering if her “goofball” attitude is to play the dumb blond act but she looks worth watching)
Australia – Nessie, 27, Sports TV host, played in the Women’s premier League
She works as a Sports events TV host and MC. She loves the outdoors and water sports. She says “If something ruffles my feathers I’m not afraid to get all physical and hold my own” (she should have a carrot top on her head. She seems like a feisty redhead. She is beautiful, those eyes – tjo! Those eyes will ill make a few of the men in there melt)
Serbia – Jelena, 33
She worked for the Serbian-government as a translator and loves to travel. She notes that “being a female football fan is very rare in her country” She says” I’m perfect. What can I tell you” (I liked her first facebook status “Guys, I can’t believe I am here. Africa! The cradle of life” but I can’t kick the feeling that she and Austin should hang together… their arrogance is a bit much for me.)
Ghana – Barbara, 26, registered Nurse
She loves her national colours that she even has a Ghanian bedspread. Her favorite player of all timeis Pele. She says “Everything stops in my house when football is on TV”. (I hope she brought her bedspread with)
