On Carte Blanche Consumer tonight (8 July 2010):
Cellphone Driving
It’s distracting and dangerous, yet somehow many of us do it. And many claim it doesn’t affect them at all. But invariably when you are rear-ended, or have a near-miss in the traffic, a mobile phone is often the third party.
Carte Blanche Consumer tested the reaction times of normally law-abiding motorists to find out if it’s really possible to chat on a cellphone, or to send a quick text message while supposedly concentrating on the road.

Ha! >>> We don't know who they're talking about but should be fun to see: ...
... Squatters
Our Constitution offers protection to property owners, but also to squatting tenants. So how ludicrous is it to invest in a multi-million rand home and then be forced to put up with someone you barely know, living there rent-free?
Economist Chris Hart rented out his upmarket Jo’burg home to a television personality who not only refuses to leave, but won’t pay rent, electricity or any other services. Carte Blanche Consumer gets on his case.

Heat Pumps
There is an urgent need for consumers to reduce the costs of heating water as Eskom’s latest price hikes begin to bite. The power regulator is encouraging us to go for solar systems, but the high costs upfront are a deterrent to cash strapped home owners. Another option is a heat pump, but how does it fare when compared to solar? Carte Blanche Consumer gets heated.

Carte Blanche Consumer is on M-Net on Thursdays at 19h00.
