Teaser ...He became South Africa’s top cop in 2000, but it wasn’t long before Jackie Selebi made a deal with the criminal underworld.
It was the murder of mining magnate Brett Kebble that first exposed his shady connections with wellknown drug lord Glenn Agliotti, whom he famously called his friend, “finish and klaar”.
Now the former police commissioner and head of Interpol has been found guilty of corruption. In return for money, he offered Agliotti information and protection.
3rd Degree looks at what brought this once respected freedom fighter to his knees and asks: have his criminal acts tainted the South African Police Service forever? Or has his conviction given our criminal justice system a much-needed boost by demonstrating that no one, no matter how powerful, is above the law?
