RGB Returns Reloaded

Written by Sipho Xolisa Tshapu from the blog Mzansi TV! I love it (not always though) on 04 Sep 2010

So being the couch potato that I am, it is a Saturday and I am in front of my TV. I have just seen the first episode of the new season of Real GoBoza (RGB). Today they were just introducing the show and giving us a line up of what is gonna happen in the next coming weeks.

I still find it weird watching it at this time slot as I was used to watching it on Wednesday evenings. I must say the producers of the show have a thing for Xhosa women, with Kuli Roberts presenting the previous season and now Brenda Ngxoli, mostly known for her role as Vuyo in the SABC one show Home Affairs.

Ok I must admit at first I was a bit skeptical about Ngxoli’s presenting - don’t get me wrong she is a phenomenal actress, having proven that by being nominated for an Emmy Award. But she proved to me she has what it takes, with her comical talk and wit. The lady sure does have spunk.

In the show she had three guys, who included former talk show host Phat Joe and OMO door to door presenter Nkanyiso. Well it was meant to be like she was interviewing them for the male presenter part, but it is without a doubt that Phat Joe is the winning candidate.

The duo will be on our screens in a new set as from next week Saturday, quite different from the previous presenters (Kuli Roberts and Siya Ngwekazi/ Dineo Ranaka and Trevor Noah [season 1])

I will be watching.

RGB Reloaded SABC 1 @ 18H00 Saturdays

I personally think it was a hot mess.
Brenda is a flippin fantastic actress but presenting is a different animal altogether.
Best of luck to her.

I didnt watch it, it didnt get much publicity and I never knew about it until this blog...anyway its gonna be a conflict of interests coz there are also the Popstar on etv.
Would like to see Brenda I just hope she doesn't fake and try and be Kuli Roberts with the whole "Xhosaness"

Brenda can act but to present RGB and keep speaking like she did man, RGB has lost it's touch, only Phat Joe can be able to execute what's needed and wanted by us viewers.

Brenda ndiyakuthanda mntasekhaya, hayi for uRGB, uzehlisa isithunzi my dear, kodwa ke ngumsebenzi kwaye indlala ibhokile ndakufana ndinyamezele.

Also ddnt know about it sana Lwan, till this article.
Some seriously crazy scheduling this broadcasters have subjected us to, A tripple conflict infact....between rgb, pop star and the dancers.
But then i dont care about RGB, unless maybe if Phat Joe is gonna be the presenter. How i wish he could have a late night talk show again..

i think they made a mistake about the show being broadcast on this new slot. It conflicts with popstars on e.tv.

pele
06 Sep 2010 10:57

Haybo no mistake Javasavana, it is the competition on which channel people will tune in, it was going to be a mistake if it was on another SABC channnel. SABC and E-TV are competitors.

I think that RGB producer know what he wanted  when he hire brenda as presenter,We need to hold on for those who started than those who have been there for qiut long. However brenda will get used to intartainment show and she will come up with what axactly viewers want .just give her  time.

Since RGB is  back, I thought I should share this with you guys. I received it today via e-mail so not really sure if the facts are correct so maybe you might know.

Am sure that by now you are aware that Karabo Moroka ( Connie

Ferguson ) of Generations is leaving the soapie.

The reason for her impending departure is that her husband Shona Ferguson
known as Alex in Scandal is in real life having a love affair with Sharon
(Samuel's galfriend) who works with Karabo in Generations and Sharon is now
pregnant with Shona's child. Karabo could not put up with her husband
impregnating a co-worker and is filing for divorce. She is now going out
with co-worker Lungile (Buyile Mdladla) who is being divorced by his wife
for being an abusive husband. Karabo apparently wants to get her own
experience of "blue eyes" as they are said to be very in love.

Talk about soapies and celebrities. Don't ask me where I heard this I have
my ear on the ground. Just watch this space as sparks will be flying, with
our celebrities hanging their dirty linen for all to see .

If you read Buyile's wife's article on Drum...this will make a lot of sense.
It is spring and yes...am back fully on the social scene.

Did it appear in any newspaper or show?
