Episode Title: Simon and the Sangoma
Broadcast Date: Wednesday, 15 September 2010
Simon Ndima is an unemployed widower with two children, a son and a daughter. He lives with his son in an RDP home in Edenpark, Alberton. On December 2007, he bought a Nissan 1400 van for an amount of R40 000. On the night of the 14 May 2009, Simon’s van was stolen.
In October 2009, he saw a flier advertising a spiritual healer named Professor B. Sorries. This man told Simon that he works as a traditional healer and fortune teller.
During the consultation, Sorries told Simon that he has many spiritual problems and that in order to heal himself, he needed to buy a springbok skin for R3 800. Simon paid the money and was requested to come in for daily treatments which cost him an additional R4 800.
Things went sour when Sorries threatened to kill Simon and his children if he refused to pay him R40 000.
Speak Out steps in to sort Sorries out.
