On Sunday night 26-year-old Youth Officer
Kaone (K1) Ramontshonyana lost out on a place in the Top 5 when he got whacked from Big Brother All Stars, alongside
Tatiana.
He hardly uttered a word to BB host
IK about his time in the house - mostly because he wasn't asked anything - and stabbed fellow housemate
Lerato Sengadi with a dagger, before swagg'ing goodbye.
I caught up with him for us on Monday morning to find out what he had to say for himself:
Tashi: Why do you think you were voted out?
Kaone: I don't know, I can't think, I totally have no idea.
Tashi: Do you think it had to do with other contestants in the house? Did it have anything to do with something you did?
Kaone: No, no, no, not at all. I'd say that there are more favourites than me at this stage.
Tashi: How do you feel about the fact that Botswana didn't vote to save you?
Kaone: I don't know, I haven't even checked - even if they did, it would just be one vote you know.
Tashi: A lot of people say that because housemates come from different countries their country should vote for them - do you think voting should be about countries or about the individual?
Kaone: The individual - that's what I thought it's about from the start. I also say that if people from other countries really saw you they'll put you up - votes from your country alone can't make that much difference.
Tashi: You spent all this time on the show and you didn't win -
again. Are you pleased you did it or would you rather have been doing something else?
Kaone: No, no, no I'm very glad I did it. It was a whole new experience, I got to learn a few things and I think a lot of platforms have opened up as a result.
Tashi: How have you changed as a result of doing it a second time?
Kaone: I think I'm stronger, more competitive, more open, more exposed, I made more friends, more contacts - now it's up to us to take it further.
Tashi: Where to from here? What are you gonna do next?
Kaone: I don't know, I love radio so I think I'll be auditioning for a lot of radio stations to see what comes out of it.
Tashi: Do you prefer it to TV?
Kaone: I can also do TV but radio is more intimate and kinda my own space.
Tashi: There was a point where you turned totally weird and out of control - when everyone was very "anti" you. I actually thought you'd gone nuts.
Kaone: No I was totally under control. It was just amazing to see how little effort it takes from my side to do one punch and make everyone crazy.
Tashi: So why did it happen?
Kaone: It was the normal everyday give and take, back and forth - I imagine on that night people took things way too personally. Me I was just playing the game, as I did every day.
Tashi: That night of the big blow-up in the kitchen with the bottles and so on?
Kaone: Yes, I was like: "Okay, what if I did this every day? If this is what the game was about." After that - you have to know how much power you have in your words and actions.
Tashi: Were you really drunk at that point or was it an act?
Kaone: I was tipsy ... alcohol, you know what it does.
Tashi: What was interesting was that there was a week or two where everyone was totally anti-you - all this tension surrounding you - and then it sort of disappeared and I couldn't work out how or why it disappeared.
Kaone: They actually said I should meet a shrink on that weekend. It's like having natural gate-keepers to process stuff - they make you think about things, you process them and then take them out.
Sometimes you just need time to yourself to think more and you need to think outside and beyond the game. If you take things to heart then you might lose it before it's time.
Tashi: Do you think you went nuts?
Kaone: Only on that Saturday. I thought I had to roar, just once, be a lion just for a minute so that the other animals can start respecting your space.
Tashi: Did you feel you weren't being respected?
Kaone: I wouldn't really say that but it's one of those things - I think every game has its own technicalities. Whatever people do in it to advance themselves - you need to do.
You just need to sit back and get to know what everyone's doing, how they're playing, what type of people they are towards you and from then you can start choosing the fight.
Tashi: Did people change towards you after that night?
Kaone: Obviously, yes - I think things started to be more moderate in terms of how they related to and deferred to my persona.
Tashi: Do you think they respected you more after that?
Kaone: No, not really respect but scared. Respect, you can't really ask for it or force it on anybody. If it's not forthcoming you shouldn’t look for it. I was just cool with the amount of space that I got after that.
Tashi: Do you also think that Meryl and Mwisho's engagement was an act so that they could stay in the game longer?
Kaone: No, I don't see anybody of their age doing that, just because of the game. I think they know that it's something outside the game.
Whether you want to stay longer or not, you wouldn't take a decision that you'd need to explain too much once you get out - or that's way outside the norm.
I want to believe it's genuine. People had relationships but they didn't take it that far - if it goes that far then there should be something real about it.
Tashi: So you think it's real? Being right up close with them?
Kaone: Ja'uuuh, I think, you know ...
Tashi: You don't sound very convinced!
Kaone: No, no, I'm telling you the truth. It took me a while to absorb it but then after a minute I started to see that it's something that's going to go beyond the house.
They decided to make it publicly and internationally known that they have good intentions about one another so you have to respect that.
Tashi: The thing that worries me is that Mwisho doesn't have a job.
Kaone: Ai! You, you guys are ... I think he'll get a job. Imagine if he wins the money. He's gonna get a whole lot of chances now, he's a very intelligent man and he's got too much love from the people and there are blessings that come with taking such decisions. God just provides more for you.
Tashi: I’ve been wondering: if he does win, is he
definitely gonna share the money with Meryl?
Kaone: That's not gonna be an option because they'll be family already so it would be family money.
Tashi: So he'd have to, he couldn't not. Who else in the house really liked each other? Even not romantically?
Kaone: I dunno man ... I'd say Sheila and Lerato, Hannington and Yacob, me and Paloma, me and Tatiana. It was hard to make out whether it was real or not but when you get out of the house you get to see.
Tashi: Who loathes each other the most?
Kaone: I never really wanted to give myself time to think about that - I wanted to be everyone's friend. I hate borders, if I saw them I tried to bring them down.
When you're in the game - I didn't take it as people loathing that much - maybe out of a strategy to get rid of someone but when they eventually meet out of the house, they make peace.
Tashi: Which housemate did you find the hottest?
Kaone: I'm sitting next to her. (
Tatiana. Tune in for her interview tomorrow.)
Tashi: Did you want a relationship with her?
Kaone: No, no, no.
Tashi: Did you want a relationship with anyone?
Kaone: No, I wanted to avoid it. I didn't go into the house with anything like that in my mind.
Tashi: Why?
Kaone: Because I'm cool with myself right now.
Tashi: Who do you think's gonna win?
Kaone: I think all the housemates in the house right now deserve to win, I pray for them, I'd be happy for all of them.
According to what's been happening since the first eviction, Munya seems to be having too much love out here. I think he's a good man. Even on the first season - I think his will, his heart - him being good took him where he was. It would be good for him to have gone that far and done it again and win.
Mwisho also went far in his season. Now it's about how people related to you, how you can connect with them.
Tashi: Who do you think has the
least chance of winning?
Kaone: I think all of them have equal chances, they're in the same TV, exposed to the same conditions every day. I think this it's a whole new week for viewers and everyone's going to try to define what they want to see in their winner. All of the housemates now have a clean slate.
Tashi: How much do you know about what happened between Hannington and Lerato?
Kaone: Nothing, totally nothing.
Tashi: That could be a factor against Lerato because there's been a lot of controversy about her staying and Hannington getting disqualified.
Kaone: I only heard very little about it.
Tashi: Do you think Uti and Sheila's relationship is doomed now that he knows she kissed Hannington?
Kaone: He said it would pain him a bit but I think it's a pain that most men would get over because, you know, they'll have to sit down and sort it out.
Tashi: Does Uti know about what happened between Meryl, Sheila and Mwisho with their threesome(on
Freaky Friday)?
Kaone: I don't know if he's aware of it.
Tashi: Maybe he'll be more thrilled by it than stressed?
Kaone: I don't know ... him and Sheila have a very interesting open relationship or something. They said they're cool with each other - when we spoke it about it in the house he said that even if she found someone else to marry it wouldn't really be too much, but he would feel a little hurt.
It's just one of those things. I think they're just close friends, he said there's something between them but he couldn't really put it into words. They have a deep, sisterly/brotherly bond.
