Oh.. my goodness.. I have never ever in my whole life seen anything like this.

I found myself totally locked onto the screen last night when INTERSEXIONS was playing. Only when it finished I realized that I hadn’t moved since after Generations. Such engaging drama…

This INTERSEXIONS is bringing another level completely higher than what was set by Yizo Yizo, Soul City, the Heartlines series including even Hopeville.

INTERSEXIONS is an episodic drama series with 25 independent but interrelated stand-alone episodes that follow the AIDS infection chain. Each episode takes us closer and closer to understanding the interconnectedness of our sexual networks. But by the end of the series, we see how everyone is part of a complex network of transmission.

Last night we saw Thami and Tshepo being locked up on Christmas Eve as a result of a series of really stupid decisions. Inside they come heads on with Tizozo who one would say is Minister of Sexual Affairs in there.

I said on a friend’s FB status last night that… with all the drama that happened on that single episode, it’s hard to believe after a full episode that everything happened basically in somewhat the same room. The makers of this thing managed so well to give us a full picture of the exact message that they want to say.

All emotions are hanging there.. and in the voice of David from SYTYCD.. all I can say is "this drama is there... it is totally moving... and it had me there." LOL.
That's what you say when you run out of vocabulary to explain the awe that just takes over your system.

From Tshepo’s degree being mentioned briefly on the radio news to Thami screaming “lesepa, lesepa” at Tizozo and that Faroek guy saying to Tshepo… “you don’t ever leave your friends”... Totally awesome.

Because DJ Mo slept with Mandisa then with Boitumelo who slept with Thami who was raped by Tizozo... And Mandisa ends up with the lawyer. So basically Mandisa is by far partners with Tizozo too. Oh God!

Working through these networks reminds me that the very latest season of Soul City was talking about the same thing. Perhaps that is where the seed of this series was planted. In Soul City a certain boy ended up being infected by his own dad like this: The dad had an affair with a certain little girl. The girl was in a relationship with another school boy who also ended up cheating with another school girl who happened to be the boy's girlfriend.

There are no plastics and rubbers involved in any of this rubbish.. despite the late Manto Tshabalala-Msimang's cry for ABC - Abstain be Faithful Condomise. Eish.. I have two words: SOCIETY DECAY.

Truth is, INTERSEXIONS is definitely not just another AIDS Awareness drama. No, It's not another Phamokate. It has got the conversations going around the country.. and it really gets you thinking.

Having watched the show so far, are you inspired to get tested? Or to at least be a little less reluctant when it comes to pulling the pants down?

My most riveting scenes were when Thami was lying there and Tshepo is cheering him up about the villa they'll get in Joburg... and Thami is like "for Boitumelo.. for Boitumelo... I'm going home saani..". And when the mother asked... "Thami o kae?" and when she ran into the room and shook the body...

I was just so torn at...you know, things we do to our mothers... Your mother carries so much to bring you to life and raise you and do her best so you become something... and your first contact with a credit card you end up in jail, raped by a rascal and umama has to cry over your cold body in the unlikeliest of places. That is just plain wrong.

SIDENOTES: The Tizozo character I am just happy they got someone else to play other than Ronnie Nyakale and Israel Makoe. That guy playing it I've always thought he looks like the main character from ANTZ. lol

AFTERTHOUGHT: ...By the way, somehow just watching Thami made me think of our own Jub Jub Mo Maarohanye. Konje how is the trial coming?

I was shaking...i was crying...i was just flippen affected by ysterdays's episode.
Mostly bcos of my childhood friend who is in pretoria prison for 10 yrs since last year. He still calls on occasion from priso, sounds okay...never playing victim and chearing me up when i sound worried. I just got so frightened for him.

Now...a big applause for intersexion, after hearing of it mo tvsa the other week,i watched for the first time last week. And yes...its bigger than just an aids awareness drama...but big in an ubber aids awareness way bcos it has pple talking...it has pple going for tests...wheras with other dramas it would be easy to shrug off the idea.

Its so funny how when they were in court, Thami being playfull, somehow i did not expect it to progress that way, i thought they were gonna get out soon, Thami will get two women slapping him, branded a player by tabloid papers...and that would be as big and explosive as his antics get. A relatively innocent silly actions got them into prison, nothing catastrophically major like raping or killing or stealing...and it ended in such a tragic way.
I immedietly called my little brothers and told them to behave...no drinking and smoking in public...especially that super niskierig one at vaal. Damn i was scared.

Although it wasn't as graphic as Yizo Yizo.....it wasnt as graphic yes...but the whole thing was done so that it spoke bigger volumes than yizo yizo did. It was just genius how they did it....just room nyana ya di curtuins that is just sooo haunting.

hmmm...what an episode.

I was hoping when Thami stoop up to Tizozo he was going to say something praiseworthy and powerfull (lack of a better word). Something like he is a coward,thats why he rapes people because he feels inadequate (it was the case with TeaBag by the way...who was impotent) for some reason or another...just to send an empowering wake up call to the other inmates who are at his mercy.
One person is holding an entire room full of men hostage and he is doing it mentally and Thami had an opportunity to atleast try and break the mental prison with word...but oh well...

Carino to be honest the drama is one of the best ever to hit our screens, damn it is enganging. when Thami was declared dead i just could feel myself crying inside, and i really felt that what happende to them could happen to anyone of us without the blink of an eye.

And Mandisa ends up with the lawyer. So basically Mandisa is by far partners with Tizozo too. Oh God

I am really - really getting confused to the Mandisa partenring with Tizozo part, i mean Mandisa broke up with Mo, meaning the sexual contact was no longer there. Mandisa only slept with Boitumelo, after the break up she (Mandisa) cut the cord between the three of them. So how do we say Mandisa partnered with Tizozo but all that happened with Tumi and Thami was when Mandisa was out of the picture, i am really confused i need some clarity here!!

@Pele...i do not understand the patnering thing of Kabelo and Tizozo as well but we are yet to see Kabelo's sexual patners...remember he is yet to sleep with his colleaguue who slept with DJ Mo.

Was Thami raped? I thought he just got bliksemed and only Tshepo was raped?

We are supposed to use our imagination there, I guess. There was no way Tizozo would have left Dick Sithole go just like that. remember he was saying noone should touch him yet.. he is his. I am certain he was raped by all of them.

I think on the partnering partnering part... this phrase about the show can clear the confusion.

So.. its complex.. and its a network. Its about the fact that whatever Mo dropped into Mandisa he dropped into Boitumelo too who dropped it into Thami and so on and so forth.

I am drawn to think this is also on a psychological level too...

no Vesa. It is NOT going backward... It only went backward from the first episode. We are now going bit by bit through the five years that led to Mandisa and Kabelo's wedding.

@pele....no, we can't assume anything. Maybe we should keep watching.

Last nite after the episode, Katlego (who plays Thami) tweeted that Tshepo is going to take the storyline further.....so I don't think Thami was the link. There's probably more still coming in the other 21 episodes that are still to come.

it was so funny when Tizozo said Selina ko kereyela mohadikani,lmao. but at the end of the story me and my cousins where crying it was so sad when Tshepo was raped and Thami dying. shame. i think the story makes you think and you want to be faithful to your partner.

Yes, Tshepo will definitely take the storyline further. It will just be confusing the network even further unless of course if the suicide note asked him to take care of Boitumelo.

Cos so far the only social link between the two of them was was Tizozo and now he is dead too.. and he did Tshepo first before Thami.

Right now whatever Tshepo is carrying he got from Tizozo who doesn't yet have any relations with DJ Mo...

We'll have to watch and see. Too interesting.

What a complex network, like the recent Bold and beautifull promo on sabc 3 that explains the network between. Ridge,Nick,Eric, Brooke and her sisters, Bridget etc..i got confused listening,but if we are to get real about this network things we have to pay attention and not ignore the network phenomena.

Fellow bloggers I WAS REALLY MOVED by last night's episode.I mean from the acting skills to the message,everything was just above the par.Hey did I mention that I also enjoyed the show to bits.Tizoozo brought that character to life and his Sepedi just made me want more and more of that episode.

Ya things that we do in life sometimes they are so ruthless and disgusting especially to people who love us.I mean Thami had everything with Ruth but not love..so to avoid what happened to him he should have told Ruth the truth..and you know this celebrity thing is a big problem in our country because we expect the schlebs to live above their means.

But I think last night's message got through mzansi schlebs and ordinary people.

Jail is one of the roughest place damn..a dude is now being called SELINA..and he puts on head-doeks and other fem stuff tjerr

This episode was very powerful... Great transmission. However i was left really traumatised. Even though we were left to use our imagination, i still can't get the picture yaTshepo le Tizozo and Thami le the gang out of my head. It got me thinking about every male that's close to me.....especially my son and i was therefore very emotional. I wouldn't wish what these guys went through upon my worst enemy

And then to find out in the end that the hotel bill was actually paid but the hotel manager conveniently forgot to tell the police just made it worse :-(

@ Carino - Thanks for this recap/review.

Last night's episode was something else. We's always seen prison episodes etc..but THIS was something else...I felt like I was right there, in that prison....

I think its more than an AIDS awareness programme, it teaches you how prison life is if you f*ck up in life...it teaches you the responsibilty (of working for your own money - In Tsepo's case who was dependent on Ruth for moolah), it teaches you the results of a high life you can't afford etc....

The actors played the part damn well.....we have not seen such creativity in such a long time....I hardly cry, but last night I did...

the scariest thing is that it is so easy to find yourself in that situation, you can be arrested for drunken driving, which is the most commonly committed crime I can think of now.

i agree with all the bloggers wonderful show, we have seen AIDS shows but these writers have outdone themselves.

After every episode, i always look at my partner differently, imagine if you have heard rumours that your wife / hubby slept with so and so, and to think that nawe. OMG let me stop here.

As i thought about the pple i know who have been in prisons for like years...This is scary but reality...i was traumatised when i went to bed even had nightmares.

I'm glad that Farouk and his gang killed Tizoz,akere he thought he was untouchable. Mara it was really sad that Thami's mom lost her son. And the damn hotel forgetting to tell the police that the bill has been settled,tjo! And yes,I think Tizozo raped Thami as well.Phela he wanted him all to himself,but I think after that 'lesepa' comment,the whole gang raped him.

Yes,Pele,the story is going backwards,to show us who slept with whom first,who then slept with another,who slept with another,who slept with someone before that,and so on and so on.Tl-tl-tl-tl-tl

I nearly cried watching that episode -it was very painful to see Thami and tshepo go thru that- and ya thank dog they killed u tizozo! what hurts me the most is that those two were locked up for something stupid! I wuld luv for those ppl who rape izingane(kids) to be raped in prison so that they know wat's is like to be raped!!!and after they they must hang them with their dicks.!!!!that will be ayoba!! they must just tare their a**es apart..ohhhh that will go down very nice!!!!!!!

SamVanity you have a right to your opinion but dont interrogate other people's opinions about the show. If you feel Yizo-Yizo was the best so be it, some other stuff you said are so unnecessary.
