Facebook has taken over our lives and our interactions – it has made the world a teensy place; however Mark Zuckerberg developed it with great losses - financially and personally.
Facebook is the way most communicate and make connections with friends, family and strangers; it has taken over normal telephone calls and face-to-face chats. The idea for Facebook is rarely investigated by the users and most don’t care.
The social network is a biography that takes you through the start and growth of Facebook by showing the initial stages about the founders, Mark Zuckerberg (Jesse Eisenberg) and Eduardo Saverin (Andrew Garfield). To build the empire their relationship went through challenges that would change their relationship completely.
You will simply either admire or loathe Mark Zuckerberg after watching this – BUT your addiction to Facebook will not be cured. You will go back for more and start trying out everything it has to offer. You will also wonder if he still wears the shoes that he is portrayed wearing in the entire movie.
The Winkelvoss twins (John Hayden) will irritate you with their arrogance but you completely understand their irritation and anger when they sue Mark. Justin Timberlake is absolutely amazing as he potrays Sean Parker and his part in the cruel destruction of Mark’s relationships.
I loved the movie simply because it gave a lot of background on the drive for success and the sacrifices Mark made to make Facebook what it currently is. I give the movie 4/5 Segs stars. .The tagline “You don't get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies” sums up the movie perfectly.
The movie starts showing at Ster-kinekor theaters on the 5th November 2010
