We asked for it, it was
on our wishlist for the year and M-Net has responded.
In the late afternoon yesterday the channel announced
one new addition to their Christmas line-up: the sweeping new HBO series Boardwalk Empire.
Which will undoubtably go down in history as one of
the most classic series of all time.
Produced by Martin Scorsese and Mark Wahlberg and starring Steve Buscemi (Reservoir Dogs), the series is set during the American prohibition and has uninamously been hailed as the Series of the Year by both critics and viewers.
As mentioned on our wishlist, the impact of the pilot episode was so dramatic and huge when it premiered in the US in September it was immediately given a second season, 48 hours after it debuted.
Add to this the fact that it has one of the biggest budget's of any series ever created and it's the ultimate Christmas gift to us. The costs for the first 12-episode season are estimated at over $65-million, almost half a billion rand.
It premieres on M-Net on Wednesday 22 December 2010, at 21h30.
Do. Not. Miss. It.
