Forgive & Forget this Tuesday (18 January 2011):
When their child finishes high school a parent usually looks forward to seeing them take the steps to secure their future, whether it’s a good job or tertiary education.
Jonathan’s mother had the same hopes for him, but after he got his matric certificate a successful future gave way to the strong pull of drugs. It’s an addiction that would cause his mother to lose her possessions and her son.
Jonathan seeks his mother’s forgiveness, hoping that she’ll recognise the new man he’s become.
After 12 years of school, instead of planning the adult years of his life, Jonathan turned to drugs. A habit many users see as manageable, spiralled out of control as Jonathan would do anything to get his next ‘fix’.
He stole from his mother to feed his habit, this, along with his mood swings, fuelled the destruction of their relationship. Now Jonathan seeks his mother’s forgiveness. This could be difficult for a mother who’s had her heart broken time and again by her very own son.
Forgive & Forget reveals whether she has enough faith in her son to give him one more chance in the hope that he’s turned his life around.
Forgive & Forget is on e.tv on Tuesdays at 21h00.
