SowetanLive Fakes Comments

Thanks to Makisto I recently started reading the Sowetanlive blogs. To be honest I find the comments there too crass and childish for me to engage in any debate there. Most of the people there just go out of their way to be as vulgar and hateful as they possibly can.

Yesterday I read the Nonhle story and the comments and was shocked by the complaints that came from bloggers that comments were appearing on the blog that they didn't make. So does this mean Zeno-something is nit only stealing content for her stories but she is also faking popularity of her blog by manipulating comments?

 CheeseBoy

@ALL I ONLY MADE ONE COMMENT. THIS STUPID SITE YA SOWETAN IS MIXING UP PEOPLES' NAMES WHEN SUBMITTING A COMMENT.

QueenB

Sowetan, WTF are doing guys, I didnt log on today but here I'm posting as

QueenB,

that's not my log name, Technician of Sowetan stop playing with our accounts otherwise wew will close them, next time someone will use someone's account to say things that no one will account for. Wake up and smell coffee

Smell a rat?

Khante whats happening to journalism in this country? No wonder the ANC's policy to try and police the media is getting support from other people in the country. Journalism has lost its integrity. People do not write news anymore. They write to settle scores or get back at the people they don't like.

Now journalist are competing with bloggers and have resorted to silly tactics to seem at the top. Pathetic. This profession is losing its honour thanks to these mickey mouse journalist who chase fame rather than be the eyes of the public and deliver news.

Its Thursday imini yomama.

Sarocks how do u fake comments? U mean u can post a comment written by me? If yes then Sowetan administrators must fix it. They must call all their IT analyst.

Shame i know those bloggers esp KUKU she always kills me & most of bloggers always take her serious. Is she still active? She used to comment 2 every article & she was ALWAYS negative.

recalling maddie's comments about them..in another article lol. Rocks, personally i dont think you or anybody should be worked up about the debates that go on on sowetan live. If they irk you out, just walk on by and enter debates with bloggers whose style you appreciate.

I think you can draw some sad conclussions about them, but those conclussions are uncertain because quite possibly...behind the aliases is people who are generally tactfull who just want to let loose and go wild with words and opinions...like i think of this KUKU character myname. But say this people are for real.. yes it would be a sad reflection of the people that we have in our country, the people that vote and serve this country etc. And  for that i guess we should be up in  arms???...but generally nje..i really dont think one should get worked up about sowetan bloggesr or any blogger actually.

On the journalism standard, i agree..im certainly not happy. But then makisto shed some lights that really boggled my type writter generation behind mind and it is what it is i suppose in some of this cases. makisto i have several more questions about this issue and ill ask as we blog along because ke a ngongorega man...

Yes Maddie ... Atteridgeville, Mamelodi, and all other Pretoria Townships are the Universal genetic centre of the Male whore and titrate perverts of our species. Really twisted minds live there, and most have little ambition beyond thinking of how to smell panties .... I know ... I grew up there!

Mathaz
31 Mar 2011 12:59

Finally a platform to discuss Sowetanlive bloggers!  Tjo jah those people are on another level, if police are looking for paedophile, they should not look further than that blog.  Most of them are perverts and every article, even good ones are turned into sex blogs.  I see the editorial is also cashing in by publishing sex articles which they know will be a sure hit with them.

Nothing they say is factual let alone thought provoking.  I just read their comments for laughter.  I don't even want to start on their user names.  Where is Qalo/ Qalowak and so many names that she uses, that woman's vulgar, jah neh...but all in all they are not to be taken seriously.

We have two young Morutis in our neighborhood ... one is in his 20s, and the other in his 30s. and all the township men care about is hitting on their wives, one is curvy and has a butt, the other is rail-thin... and both get hit on daily relentlessly, regardless of the fact that everyone is now aware that they are abo Ma-mfundisi .... imagine the depraved mind's opinion regarding poor Deliwe's baby girl (she did used to be cute though) when the same mind hits on the preachers' wives to get into their panties .... That's Pretoria for you!

31 Mar 2011 14:33

LOL...mna i was fascinated when sowetan introduced the comments section but honestly they are too vulgar they hurt my eyes..offends my throat...my spirit or something, i dont find their comments funny because i imagine they are trying to be funny with their vulgar and over sexualised comments, unless they are just being pervs as matahz says...so i dont read them comments much...its very rare that i do..and only the 1st 20.
I read the comments on Redi's column though....you have the level headed comments and yoyu get those ones who call Redi "cheese gal" in alllll her articles, lol. nommater what she is saying.
And occasionaly read the comments on Eric Miyeni's coulumn , he writes garbage half the time and he gets fitting comments.

VusiK

I don't entertain Vulgar, If I check out a blog and it is generally vulgar garbage, simply words to fill / foul up space ... I pass and probably will never return. We can joke about sex talk, however, it debases everything else that matters because it reduces the value of something we should be careful to nurture ... responsible sexuality. I've done some crazy sh*t in my life, but I will not be vulgar about it because some of it has great value intimately .... Irresponsible blogging is a serious turn-off. Redi sometimes provokes sh*t by engaging idiots ... she (and everyone else) have at some point got to realise that their opinion matters only to themselves, and may be completely irrelevant to others... and that they are not ALWAYS right. Eric .... He's a born idiot (or as a someone I know said once ... and excellently fashionable excuse to abort).

Green.arrow
31 Mar 2011 15:03

Redi sometimes provokes sh*t by engaging idiots...realy Vusi? ...i dont think she entertains them. I dont always agree with her views but i think its possible to argue againts her opinion  without insulting and missing the point of the article. I think its just...wrong*...to just go on the attack, attacking a person not their view, this has been said a lot of times in blogville. Ya but eric Miyeni is........*words fail me*.....Id say they should not give him a platform, but when sowetan is concerned ive seen/read worst.

VusiK
31 Mar 2011 15:12

Sowetan comes up with articles ... and 7 hundred and three thousand comments, I don't have the energy to even try to look at the comments. I just read the snippet article and move on. I may be wrong on Redi .... maybe she's changed tak, the last time I eve bothered reading or listening to her was years ago, and she was a Gladiator Ball-crusher "I am right" and "I am Jenny Chriswilliams and Whatshisname (ex Rugby exile ..... Jhin Robbie progeny /Junior" and "all that matters is my opinon" ... She was really a pain in the ass ... and I tuned her off and out! Maybe she has evolved and matured in the last X years .... But Yes ... it is improper to attach the person instead of engaging the debate.

Green.arrow
31 Mar 2011 15:54

and Whatshisname (ex Rugby exile ..... Jhin Robbie progeny /Junior"...LMLO....
Perhaps she has matured over the years. This is what i hear often when i listen to her show, at most 4/5 times a week: She has strong opinions, and she states her opinions and if anyone wants to challange that opinion she allows them, I'll say, most often than not....after a debate for which she had a strong view, she always agrees to disagree with whomever challanged her which is fair enough right?. I dont take offence at the fact that as the host, she kinda has the last word when a caller is cut off, because it is what it is.

I like that about Redi. She takes all comments- good and bad-. It's funny though when she reads emails or smses that criticise her.

31 Mar 2011 16:23

It's funny though when she reads emails or smses that criticise her....lol, thats so so funny true...she reads them out loud, thoroughly, and makes remarks like "ohkaaay" or "alryyt",  and swiftly moves right along...you can tell she isnt the least bit fazed ....coz she is self assured....

"Readers of Mail & Guardian may find a picture of a topless woman unacceptable whitle it might well be perfectly acceptable to readers of Sowetan".  Just read this on some media book, thought i should share.

I'll tune into her show and re-assess my opinion. The one I have is most probably outdated. I'l maintain an open mind in review or her personality.

VusiK
31 Mar 2011 22:23

It turns out that it is quite easy to enter a site like the Sowetan site as someone else, and block via his/her Alias ... so says the cyber security guys lurking in the basement at the office! They even sent me something freely available on the net to prove the point ... and it works (have not tried it on the Sowetan site), but it works at newspaper sites I picked.

Green.arrow
01 Apr 2011 00:41

@Vusi,u may not have tried it on sowetan bt i think some one has. Some of the emotionaly charged, vulgar comments ive seen on sowetan are often about how someone's alias or account was used, OR how they posted a comment and someone's alias instead of theirs reflectd bla bla bla...i always figured its the sowetan it support incompetencies not so much deliberate cyber izinyokas...arg but eitha way i dont care.

Green.arrow
01 Apr 2011 00:49

@mathaz....the quote is interesting indeed, but debatable. SOME of those m&g readers are probably covert pervs, just as Some of the sowetan readers wil have 'moral' views about the same thing.....
