You may have noticed that the "Press OK" info screen on the Big Brother Africa feed on Channel 198 shows that a housemate has been eliminated already - in moments we haven't seen.
The contestant with the cross is Herminio from Mozambique:
He was one of the 14 housemates announced last week before the show premiered but he didn't arrive on the scene. He's never been on the show and never will be.
Turns out the reason is that he withdrew from the series the day before he was supposed to go into the house.
This is also why there aren't two housemates from each country because another housemate withdrew at the weekend too. It was someone from Angola, who wasn't part of the initial group who were revealed before. This is why their mugshot isn't in the info. box with a cross too.
There were supposed to be 28 housemates instead of 26.
This statement about it from M-Net's Lani Lombard:
"M-Net and Endemol would like to advise that it was always their intention to include two housemates from each of the participating countries in Big Brother Amplified.
However, on Saturday April 30, a day before the series launch, a contestant from Angola and a contestant from Mozambique withdrew from the series for personal reasons."
