What do I do if I want my tv to be counted on the ARs as well?

The General
10 Jun 2011 11:19

Haha I mean I know there's like maybe a thousand households with tvs, and those tvs are connected with AR counters, I wanna know how I can also get my tv to be counted, hope you get what I'm saying?!

happy to see Muvhango being number 1 on SABC 2....and Isidingo ratings going up, yay!

this sample does not make sense did South africa suddenly have an exta 2 million households with TV's the numbers are much higher than usual??

if Generations gained so much then surely other soapies must be much much lower if the numbers reflect the same sample that have been used before??

ignore my comment there was an explanation around the new figurs, just checked previous figures

There was an explanation in the previous ARs, so Isidingo didn't gain more viewers, this is their actual number aparently previously they were calculated incorrectly hence RC now has over 3 mil viewers. Not to crow about this but RC is wiping the floor with all other shows that are on at 18H30. Not hating on anyone, just saying. But my question is do the numbers include those TVs that are still in furniture shops that are tuned to SABC1 all day and all night. How does this whole thing work?

What's with the numbers this time around? Seems like many shows have doubled their viewers. Last time, Generations was standing at around 4 million. Now they've ballooned to almost 7 million. Where did the two odd million viewers come from? Could it be that more people are indoors because of the weather? Odd!

@incarnate, the way it works is there are a couple of thousand TV's which are part of the TAMS survey. These TV's represent all the different kinds of households (race, class, language, geographical region) so as to make up a statistically accurate sample for the survey, just like when they poll a couple thousand people on the street to figure out who's going to win an election. So when one family tunes in or switches the channel, they represent like 10,000 families doing the same thing. But to answer your question, all the TVs in furniture shops don't affect the ratings. Hope this helps.
