It's been another jam-snacked week of news from all over the place so,
like last week, I'm zapping it together in one place. I thought I'd change the title of the wrap from The Friday Report to The Gosssss Report so it can happen any time and day of the week, even though it happens to be Friday today.
First up:
Dineo Gaga (aka Ranaka) and her sidekick Mo' will be taking their Club 808 flava to the Durban July next Saturday (2 July). They're gonna be there on the Friday too for a pre-party at DJ Tira's Club Afro Lounge.
DJ Tira will be hosting the shindig, then they're all off to the Durban July and after that there's an after-party at the Moses Mabhida stadium for a concert-type party. The line-up of musos who'll be performing include Liquideep, Zakes Bantwini and Teargas - who'll be at the BET Awards this Sunday (26 June).
In between it all horses will do their usual race obviously and no-one - except the horsey people - will care. I luv horses but I've never understood the appeal of horse racing and reckon nobody does - I'm convinced that 99% of the people who go pretend they're interested to dress up.
The action from the weekend will be on Club 808 the Friday after - on 8 July at 19h30.
Something to look out for on the box tonight is the premiere of Entertainment Tonight on SABC3 at 19h30. It's a daily entertainment show that's been airing in the US for 30 years - the longest running entertainment news show there is.
We'll be seeing it here weekly and we'll be seeing yesterday's show today. Because of how quickly entertainment news changes etc SABC3 are getting a direct feed of it so what see tonight is what the US has just seen.
For more about it see:
Entertainment Tonight.
Also hott to look out for on SABC3 is
Survivor Xtra with TVSA on Expresso.
(Yay - it's us!!) It starts this Tuesday (28 June) after the premiere of Survivor Tocantins on Monday night (at 19h30) and will be on weekly at 06h45.
It's gonna include juicy snippets and secrets about the season and rants and raves about the action with Survivor junkies who'll be joining myself and Expresso's Liezel van der Westhuizen and Ewan Strydom.
Last season it was the three of us - this season we're making the circle bigga' with viewers joining in. A sneak peak of the guests who'll be on on Tuesday ... a graphic designer/entrepeneur and a marketing student. I'll spill no more. You'll see them on the show.
Yonda Thomas: a Top 5 finalist in Class Act 1.
After Class Act he landed the role of Damon on Muvhango and now he's starring in a new SABC1 drama series. Yup! The channel's announced the premiere of a new drama series called Fallen and Yonda's headlining it.
Yonda plays Mvelo Nobela, a young music producer, who inherits his father's Durban business empire. His mother and grandfather disappeared 20 years earlier and as he takes over the empire he's faced with uncovering the mystery of what happened to them.
Class Act
runner-up Muzi Ngwenya has a role in it too. He plays a smaller role - a character called Simon.
Also starring in it are
Mbali Ntuli,
Gabisile Tshabalala,
Owen Sejake,
Jennifer Steyn,
Xolile Tshabalala and
Khulu Malusi Skenjana.
It starts on Thursday, 7 July at 20h30.
While Fallen's all hip and happening, a show that
isn't is
So You Think You Can Dance SA. I've been snooping around to find what's happening with a Season 3 and it turns out: zilch. Word from my mole is that it's on hold i.e it won't be happening this year.
Noeleen's currently sporting a new swish in the build-up to the reveal of a new 3Talk studio. The show's going to be launching a new look studio, live on air on Monday, 4 July - in the usual timeslot at 15h30.
The relaunch has been in planning for ages and the look and feel of it's very hush-hush and under wraps. My colour predictions based on Noeleen's outfit: black and silver backdrop with dark red chairs. For the afternoon? - I don't know so much. Maybe light silver and grey?
As for Michelle Obama being in town and what'not - I hooked up with her for a quick lunch and she really is super. Chilled, chatty, doesn't talk politics all the time. I couldn't take pics of course because she had booty'guards everywhere - so I can't prove that
really I was with her. I was though. Seriously;).
Got more news to spill but I'll save it for another day.
Ooops - the weather, I almost forget: it's bah! Someone turn the SUN on. I've just heard about someone who follows summer all year - they go wherever it's summer so I'm thinking a kickbutt plan would be to move to Durbs for winter.
