I Want To Sing Gospel 2: Episode 5 Recap

Thabo Mdluli kicked right into hosting duties introducing the last Top10 contestants.
I Want To Sing Gospel Top 10 sang as a group "Greater is He that is in me....Haleluja, halelujaaa. He is worthy to be praised, He is Worthy to be praised". The show began and what a way to open it, I loved the song...it had all the Joyous Celebration elements in it. The judges were; Lindelani Mkhize, Palesa Mocuminyane and Bigboy Mlangeni.

So the contestants were in duets and here's how it went down:

NONTSIKELELO AND THABANI

They sang Potter's House; they sang well...it was a good duet and complemented each other very well. I felt that Nontsikelelo was much stronger though when they were singing The Potter's House. Thabani is talented but I don't see him winning this show, maybe I haven't seen the best of him. Lindelani said "the house was on fire", Palesa said there was so much talent in South Africa and Bigboy was blown away.

THANDO AND MVUSELELO

These two sang "Excellent is your name", The less said about the Chiskop girl the better....she must go, her time is up. Mvuselelo is very talented ubhuti undicingisa ematenteni. The judges ofcourse were impressed with Mvuselelo with Palesa saying she will buy his CD, and then she said Thando matched Mvuselelo....ha ha ha; excuse me Thando was nowhere to be seen.

NOMBULELO AND MALCOLM

They sang Prayer which Nkqubeko felt it was difficult but boy oh boy they took me through a journey and for a moment I was looking for my handkerchief as tears were flowing when Miss Tshefu (Nombulelo) was singing. The anointing in those voices, deservedly so they got a standing ovation from the audience and Lindelani. Palesa said they were perfect and Bigboy..."out of this world". There is purity in Nombulelo's voice....I love her, I am rooting for her

NHLAKANIPHO AND NOZIPHO

They performed Power in the Name of Jesus / Alikho igama, they are also talented but to be honest I don't see Nozipho going very far in this competition. Nhlakanipho is one of my favourites...I just love his voice and the way he commands that stage.

NQOBILE AND SAMKELISIWE

The only thing special in their performance was Samkelisiwe, she was alone in that duet. Nqobile sounded like a scratched CD....I couldn't help it but laugh. He is the reason Karabo is no longer in the show and he just proved why he was not supposed to be the Top 10. I disagreed with everything those judges were saying when it comes to Nqobile's performance....they were just trying to make him feel good...ubhedile qha.

I want to see Nqobile and the Chiskop girl eliminated...oh whilst at it, can we get real judges who will not be afraid to tell it like it is instead of sucking up all the time.

Here are my favourites:

Nombulelo, Nhlakanipho, Samkelisiwe, Mvuselelo and Thabani

What's your take guys?

Last night's show was good shem, and I'm with you on Nqobile and the chiskop girl. Dynamite se voet. I don't have a favourite yet, though. I see myself rooting for Malcolm. Besides, I think the show should now be called Zulus Want To Sing Gospel.

I am going for talent Carino....but knowing Mr Mkhize, talent alone is not enough. Malcolm has something special as well.

Im rooting for Nhlakanipho....The 4rth duet was my favourate.
And while watching the show we thought duet number three "Prayer" was butchered. I guess we compared to the original. And we were usprised when they got a standing ovation.

I was scared for Samkelesiwe when i learned she'll be singing with Nqobile because my opinion is that he makes too much noice and nkare harmonising is not his strong point, but he did well....he wasnt off tune pr nothing. But still they werent my favs. I have a soft spot for Samke though...wa mblessa shem and i just wanna give her a bog hugg.

hayi shem Maki im not sure how I felt about his singing last night (Nqobile)
I dont know if he has stage fright that took away his voice or what, I felt sorry for him & I just buried my face as soon as he started singing..I really did feel sorry for him & felt like maybe he should be a given a chance to start again, LOL!

Bathong Sobza, your name has changed now?
No my name has not changed, I have always been anointed....kwa kwa kwa

As for the pictures, I am struggling with my internet connection....it is too slow

The only person who will save Nqobile is Mkhize

I must confess... I've always said Nqobile should have gone a long time ago... but after yesterday, I realised his voice is not all that bad... he Is different, which is something we always encourage.  we always say we don't want imitators/copicats we want something different/unique... he is guys.. and Yes abuti still need some work mane-le mane... but he will be fine if he can find a proper couching...

Hee maan..  who chose Nosipho wardrobe ya maobane... he-e hle that dress was not design for her structure.... even the colour just  wrong...

I'm still for Nhlakanipho & Samkelisiwe stole my heart maobane.. u go gal..

As for chiskop gal...** ka itholela***

****Ntokozo liking him put a stamp of approval why I should like him. ***** And that's exactly why he is in the Top10. Sphumelele liking him just put a stamp of Lindelani's approval. The guy sings like he's at a train station, shem.

Are you guys aware that all contestants (except Malcom) are Nguni?...? Will be back later for a proper comment.

The guy sings like he's at a train station, shem.
we could be looking @ the next Tshepo Tshola.... rough voice... i bet most pple didn't understant what he  about when he first started... O hloka chance fela ke pheto...

Hey maan andifuni nokuva, yes Nqobile has a unique voice...I don't doubt his talent but he was the weakest link yesterday. If it was another music competition he would have been gone a long time ago.

Sobza
15 Aug 2011 13:03

i bet most pple didn't understant what he about when he first started

When he started that song, he wasn't cutting it at all...it was a faulty start like the judges said and besides....he is not versatile.

Lex
15 Aug 2011 13:12

I liked yesterday's show, shem,it felt like a real competition. Nqobile has to go guys, noo man,its not fair to have him in the competition when all he makes is a truck load of noise, that guy wa gagasha man, what he does is not singing. He must go back to singing at his stall. Chiskop ne....honestly,last nite she sang and I was totally impressed.

First season's contestants were more like traditional gospel singers while these contestants are doing a modern gospel.

Ditto Cheesa, it's going to be hard to pick the winner.

NQOBILE A SUPPPER  SCRATCHED CD INDEED!!!! LOL KWAKWWA KWA WAAA..... just wondering how come he ended up in top 10. or is it because he was discoverd by  Sphumelele who was also the in top 10 on the previouse IW2SG auditions ...mhhh ay khona . u ryt ayculela  estradini  ethengisa

Mbaliza
15 Aug 2011 16:22

Wena Mag G u cant even spell previous but uthi abantu bayabhimba, listen to urself......ahaaaaa.

Nqobile has a unique vioce unless u ddnt understand ke when thay said, he has neva sang within  a group.

By the way asikuboni lapha singing that is why uthi He cant sing. the judges might have sugar-coated the whole thing but Nqobile can sing........

If you havent noticed he is on top 10, i bet u preferred the other guys who were VOTED OFF, bona they cudnt sing...

Jealous makes you nasty, nasty makes you fat, fat makes you ugly, ugly as you are now...........tlitlitli

Nqobile when he started he sounded like the "dimo" in the Tselane things they used to tell us when we were growing up. "Tselane, ngwanaka!"

Lex
15 Aug 2011 16:36

Chiskop ne....honestly,last nite she sang and I was totally impressed.

Who was weaker than her besides Nqobile?
Honestly,I cant think of anyone else, those two have to be the first to go. The 'big' lady may just be the third person (if it were up to me). Shame,Samkhe le ena impressed me big time. Not that she had a choice seeing as she was paired to Nqobile.

Malcolm seems to be the only one that is so versatile and was willing to sing in other vernacular's. Its shows true gift and talent. Go Malcolm
