MasterChef SA cheftestant Jade de Waal sports an eye-catching tattoo in addition to her quirky accent:
Whenever I've spotted it on the show I've thought that it must play something specific because of Jade being a jazz music student and it turns out it does.
I've investigated and word from Jade is that if you were to play the notes on it you'd hear the melody to an African jazz-style tune called Ungalibali. It was written by a close friend of hers, trumpeter Lwanda Gogwana.
Lwanda and Jade played in a jazz band together called The Little Giants and it was one of the numbers they performed. The title means "never forget" in Xhosa and serves as a permanent reminder to Jade.
She explains: "It's a reminder for me not to forget the music, the people who've inspired me to play music and my instrument, the saxophone."
She had it inked in 2008 and it's her second tattoo. Her first one's on her ankle and it reflects her other passion - it appropriately reads: "Eat Your Heart Out".
