Move over MasterChef, the "manne" are coming to town.

If MasterChef is simply not your thing but the braai is and you fancy yourself as South Africa's Ultimate Braai Master you still have time to get your name down for this epic cooking competition that will make MasterChef look like a kiddies birthday party.

Can you light a braai with nothing more than an intense stare or a quick flick of your pony tail? Are you more of a “sticky warthog ribs, with potbrood and sweet and tangy melon slaw” than a “salted lamb chop and a mielie” kind of cook? Can you braai pretty much anything?

You sound like the perfect candidate to accompany Justin Bonello and 15 other Braai Jedi teams on a gruelling road trip inspired by outdoor cooking across South Africa. Weird and wonderful braai recipes, elimination challenges, infernos and fiery situations will culminate in the naming of SA’s Ultimate Braai Master. Want that title, a new car and R500 000 cash? Apply to take part in this challenge right now, but remember this competition is not for sissies, we’re looking for wildly creative cooks, shisa nyama hot shots, fire starters and aspirant foodies!

The game begins mid-year, in the far north, on the banks of the Orange River. It is here where 15 teams of two (a Braai Master and his/her Braai Buddy) will begin their epic culinary journey across South Africa. For the next 52 days, teams will need to get their goods to the grid as they compete against each other in a gruelling extreme-cuisine road trip that will see them redefining the rules that govern cooking on an open fire. With 8 000 km to cover and a smorgasbord of hot challenges, this isn’t going to be a picnic. To earn The Ultimate Braai Master title, teams will need to source their ingredients, prove that they can do more than a flame-grilled tjop, ignite the spirit of the braai – the kuier – and smash the challenges.
