Loocha magazine turned 1 last week and we were invited by Linda Moeketsi to a ‘strictly per invite’ party at the Sands in Sandton. The "do" was attended by politicians, celebs and us, the extra’s. You could see nje with the cars that were parked outside the venue gore what kind of people attended this event.
Now you are probably wondering what is Loocha - well, wonder no more because the editor of the magazine Buli Mgojo and its director Floyd Shivambu of ANCYL fame promised the attendees that they are working on the distribution of the mag. The mag launched last year and honestly speaking i have never seen it anywhere where i buy my weekly magazines or maybe it just doesn’t have that ‘buy me’ effect.
The editor.
Loocha is inspired by Nguni word 'ulutsha', meaning 'Youth' , so the magazine targets youth issues ranging from youth development, entrepreneurship, sex & relationships, sports and beauty tips to name a few. It's a monthly magazine and every month it features young South Africans making it big in their different sectors to motivate and inspire the youth. This month’s edition features Minister Fikile Mbalula - i'm not sure if he qualifies to still be under the ‘youth’ category. hehehehe.
The launch issue, cover page
The organizers couldn’t have chosen a better venue for theevent because as much as it was an invites only event, it had a big attendance and we could all manage to move freely and still have a big enough stage for a fashion show and performances. We were also spoiled with a free 7 course meal and open bar until 10:30pm.
The hosts for the event were Lerato Kganyago of Miss Soweto/Sowetotv fame and Chris Mapane, the comedian and member of the Taxi Ride cast.
Professor managed to pull a great opening act and got the crowd dancing with his hit songs and some of his fellow stable mate from Kalawa’s hits.
Chriselda Kananda, who also has a column about positive lifestyle and has a Q&A feature with the readers every month.
and ANCYL’s Ronald Lamola who was glued to his phone most of his evening.
Vusi who never forgets to remind us that he is the only African in the top 10 motivational speakers in the world, here he is with Flyod.
Dr Malinga was also there doing his funny kicks and moves as usual.
Also in attendance was the minister of sports in Gauteng Lebogang Maile.
Kenny Kunene and Hydro also graced the event with their presence. Hydro’s extreme swearing at his launch put me off, so i ended up going home before they got to perform.
and the youth...
Now i urge the youth of Mzantsi to start supporting this great initiative and buy an issue, even if you are not target market buy it for your younger brother sister/brother to get them motivated and inspired.
Besides sound issues here and there, this event was a success and we wish Loocha many, many more years and also thank the organisers for inviting to this event and taking care of us.
