First
Bones was all the rage on SABC3, then it disappeared without explanation and now it's airing on TopTV's Fox FX. Despite its popularity there's never been a hint of it on DStv, until now - sort of.
Tomorrow night (Thursday, 28 June) at 20h30 M-Net Series debuts a spin-off of Bones called
The Finder. It stars
Geoff Stults (of 7th Heaven fame) as Walter Sherman, an Iraq war veteran who got wounded in the war and was left with a "Finder Power" as a result - he can find almost anything or anyone.
He's joined by his bromance buddy
Michael Clarke Duncan who plays Len Knox, a lawyer who's changed his life around after the deaths of his wife and children. Len owns a bar in Florida that also serves as Walter's office and home.
The twosome were first introduced on Bones in an episode which hasn't been aired here yet. They get introduced in Season 6, episode 19 as part of the action. Dr. Bones (
Emily Deschanel) and Agent Booth (
David Boreanaz) hook-up with them for a case and the episode became a backdoor pilot to the show (a pilot from within another series).
Thankfully the Bones crowd
aren't in the show i.e. there's no Emily Deschanel. As you may know, she
annoys me a lot. I've never understood why she's so popular nor how she managed to land such a notable role.
Instead the series focuses on Walter and Len exclusively, as well as two other lead characters: Willa Monday (played by
Maddie Hasson) - a wild teenager on probation who Leo's taken under his wing; and Walter's lurve interest Deputy U.S. Marshal Isabel Zambada (played
Mercedes Masöhn).
The series secured a full 13-episode first season but it didn't land a second. It's a procedural so it covers different events each week.
Here's a trailer ... as you'll see it includes scenes from the original Bones episode that introduced the series:
