The Portuguese-based RTP International (RTPi) television channel has been reinstated on the TopTV platform, following numerous requests from its loyal subscriber base.
“Our agreement with RTPi was cancelled on 30 June 2012 and, as a result, the broadcast of the channel was discontinued. This was a business decision made after careful consideration, due to the lower viewership figures of the channel,” says Ian Woodrow, general manager: Channels of TopTV.
“However, since the channel’s removal from our bouquet, it became apparent from the numerous comments we received via our call centre and various social media platforms, that it is a very popular channel among the Portuguese community within South Africa. As such, we have reconsidered our initial decision and are pleased to announce that we will continue broadcasting the channel as from today, 13 July,” stated Woodrow.
RTPi is available on channel 196 and is one of the channels on offer across all the various TopTV pricing packages, including the TopTV Variety package, available at a monthly subscription of R99,00.
