Jonathan with the losers Top 9 before he was revealed as the winner.
On Tuesday night (14 August) 31-year-old drama graduate Jonathan Boynton-Lee won Top Billing's
2012 presenter search.
All of the Top 10 gathered at a swanky shindig at 15 on Orange to watch the finale while the action between the final four contenders unfolded on TV.
Moments after the announcement of his win.
I hotfooted through to soak up the cocktails for us and caught up with Jonathan to get answers to what I've wondered ...
As you'll know if you watched the search, Jonathan's adopted. His adoptive mom Bronwyn was with him in the finale when each of the four finalists were put through their paces in the company of their parents.
With his adoptive mom in the picture - what's the story with his real mom? Has he suddenly discovered that he's got family he didn't know about now that he's on TV and famous? - you know how long lost family always creeps out of the woodwork in the movies and real life. Has the same happened to him?
I snooped for answers and discovered that he doesn't know his biological father but he does know his mom. He found her four years ago and describes their relationship as amazing.
Tashi: How has she responded to this (Top Billing search etc)?
Jonathan: It's overwhelming for her just like for everyone else. She's been amazing.
Tashi: Ja, because I've been wondering if your real parents saw you on telly and then came forward and said" Hey!"
Jonathan: I don't know about my father but I know my biological mother's definitely been supporting me. I don't even know if my father knows.
Tashi: What was involved in the process of finding your mom?
Jonathan: It took them about a year and a half to find her and she was living about 20 minutes down the road from me.
Tashi: So neither of you knew before? She didn't know where you were either?
Jonathan: No because legally I had to apply but she couldn't find me, I had to find her so I went through the adoption agency, they tried to find papers, went through the whole process and it took them about a year and a half.
Tashi: It's very interesting that you've got these two families.
Jonathan: It is, it's very weird, I'm still adjusting, it's amazing.
Tashi: When you met her the first time, was it weird?
Jonathan: No it was actually quite relaxed and chilled. Right from the start we clicked so it was nice.

If you were in the same situation would you also want to find your other mom? I would.
