Disney Channel: Becoming more Unfunny by the day

There are several things that I find unfunny- fart jokes, racial remarks, and now recently.. the Disney channel. After enjoying early success of groundbreaking shows that brought families together, the Disney channel is now suffering from ongoing declining viewers.. and that is largely to do with its new shows. After canceling several of its staple shows, it ordered it batch of new comedies and animation shows, but unfortunately, they fail to live up to what's expected of Disney. Now this is where I come in.. I am going to be pitting a new show against an older, cancelled show of Disney, and see how successful these new shows are in comparison: • Lilo & Stitch vs. Fish Hooks: Lilo & Stitch was a pretty popular show in its short run on the channel, and is now being repeated on the channel. The relationship between the young girl Lilo and the lovable experimental dog Stitch, was very charming to say the least. They had some exciting adventures together, which was pretty entertaining. Unfortunately, a new show Fish Hooks is unable to live up to it. Although its humor is more "modern" than L&S, it isn't exactly lovable. There aren't instantly lovable relationships like Lilo and Stich's, and the characters aren't as memorable. In other words, L&S is the better show, in my opinion. •Hannah Montana vs. Jessie: Hannah Montana was the most successful show on the Disney channel when it premiered, and its storyline was an instant hit with tweens. The main character Miley, used several catch phrases that played a core part to the shows humor and it was very successful as it continued all through the show's seasons. The relationship between her and her friends (Lily and Oliver) was another drawing point to the series and the music was a real moneymaker. Jessie however.. Sucks.. The premise is alright, but the delivery is pretty unfunny. They could've just turned Jessie into a spin off from The Suite Life and it could've been much better (with occasional cameos from London, Maddie, Zack and Cody). Other shows that could take on the new school, are Recess, Wizards of Waverly Place, Kim Possible and even That's So Raven was more entertaining. My advice to Disney would be- drop Shake It Up, A.N.T Farm and Austin & Ally, and focus more on Gravity Falls and Phineas & Ferb, the 2 best shows that it currently has. Disney is slipping fast, And if its programming doesn't improve fast, it'll simply become a nostalgic memory in the minds of teens of the 90's and early 2000's.
