If you watched SABC2 over the weekend you'll have seen the channel's new tagline and identity in action on screen ...
|
The channel's new tagline "you belong" replaces "feel at home" and appears to the backdrop of the four primary colours. |
The new look went live on Friday (1 March) and was preceded by a flashy party on Thursday night (28 February) - in Newtown, Jozi. The shindig officially launched the channel's new identity and starred a bevy of schlebs including stars of SABC2 shows.
I hit the party with a double chuckle in my step 'cos
both of my shoes broke. The first broke as I arrived and the second after I'd downed at least three vodkas to cope with the first. Clearly Vodka
doesn't help when it comes to mending shoes.
Nevertheless I decided that I wasn't going to let a fashion fiasco hold me back so I stepped into the party and exploded with a bwa! immediately when I spotted Anelisa Phewa clutching this phone ....
A Blackberry Curve. Even more of a problem than a Nokia 3310.
As you may remember, Anelisa was the talk of TVSA after he was
spotted talking on a Nokia 3310 at the R. Kelly concert. He's "upgraded" to the Curve -
the worst phone in the history of phones so he's desperate to get rid of it obviously.
He wants an iPhone or Samsung Galaxy. Which he hasn't got yet because he chose to buy a laptop instead so that he can work on the two movies he's busy writing.
Anelisa's currently playing Sifiso on 7de Laan - he joined the soapie last year - and in between he's writing a prequel and sequel to a future movie. He hasn't written the actual movie yet - the prequel and sequel are coming first.
Very Star Wars.
Anelisa with fellow 7de Laaners Musa Ngema (Lindile) and Hildegardt Whites (Bonita).
Flash fact: Hildegardt's
the most camera-shy actress I've ever met. She kept ducking and diving away from the flashes and then escaped into the party and disappeared.
All you need is love ... these two seem to be epitome of the phrase: 7de Laan's Salamina Mosese (Nthabi) with hubby Tshepo "Howza" Mosese - he performed during the evening.
Pasella's Paul Rothmann was there solo - I didn't see any attachment with him.
Paul's officially living back in Jozi after a stint in Cape Town. He moved to Cape Town and then back to Jozi for a lawyering job - he's a lawyer in real life - so he focuses on Pasella's Jozi-orientated coverage.
Khanyi Mbau was there too and we had a long chinwag about all sorts of stuff.
I fully believe that she needs a reality show and always have. So many reality shows have happened and yet there's still no show about her - she should have been first person to have a reality show and still should.
Khanyi's shoes which were much more intact than mine at this point of the evening.
With both shoes bust and a lot of vodka under my belt I made my way to the hotel I was staying at only to get the biggest surprise of the night ...
01h30: I entered my hotel room and put my PJs on. I was suddenly struck by the pain of my boozy feet so I just sort of sat at the dressing table. Doing nothing. Staring out. When next thing ... the door to my hotel room flung open and two crazy strangers exploded into my room speaking French.
Thankfully they got much more of a fright than I did - it was obviously the sight of me sitting staring in the early hours of the morning. They sent out French gasps of panic, backtracked through the door (as if they were on rewind) and disappeared as quickly as they'd appeared. Obviously the hotel had double booked the room.
Needless to say I had a very trippy sleep after that.
