In October last year Muvhango held
an open casting call for young actors to join the show. The casting was searching for actors to play four characters including the notable roles of Busi Motsamai and Vusi Mukwevho.
The soapie finalised a decision recently and the roles of Busi and Vusi have been cast. TV presenter and DJ Raphael Griffiths landed the role of Vusi, the son of Thandaza and Edward Mukwevho.
Omuhle Gela has been cast as Busi - daughter to James Motsamai and the legendary Doobsie Mukwevho.
Raphael first broke onto the TV scene as a headline presenter on SABC2's youth series q-base28, which
he also landed from an open casting call. He was in Matric at the time. He went on to present SABC2's music show Music Moves Me and currently hosts a show on TransAfrica Radio.
Omuhle Gela is a newcomer actress and aspiring producer who recently appeared on the third season of SABC1's Tshisa and on Taxi Ride, the TV series, on Mzansi Magic.
The pair make their debut on Muvhango in April/May.
About the role of Vusi Mukwevho:
Vusi is 17/18 years old and the love-child of Edward and Thandaza. He's grown up in a household of privilege and wealth. He has grown into a bit of rebellious child. He has his mother’s good looks, which makes him a hit with the young girls. He is also quite the popular kid in high school.
About the role of Busi Motsamai:
Busi is now 17 years old. She is Doobsie Mukwevho and James Motsamai’s daughter. She’s spent a better part of a year in Japan. She is the arch little schemer just like her mother, is sharp and street smart, and is now about to return home, tossing off phrases in Japanese to all and sundry to show how intellectually superior she is.
