South African viewers will get the chance to delve deeper into the tragic case that shocked the world - the fatal shooting of model and TV star Reeva Steenkamp by her boyfriend, Paralympic champion and sporting icon Oscar Pistorius - when Oscar Pistorius: What Really Happened? premieres on Sunday, 24 March at 20:55 on Discovery Channel.
Known as the ‘Blade Runner’, Oscar Pistorius faces charges of the premeditated murder of his girlfriend, model and reality TV star Reeva Steenkamp. Shot three times with one of Pistorius’ own handguns, Steenkamp’s Valentine’s Day death stunned the world.
Oscar has pleaded not guilty, claiming the shooting was a terrible accident, as he mistook her for a burglar. But this extraordinary case has left many asking: was this a terrible accident, or something more sinister?
Filmed in South Africa, this hour-long documentary digs deeper into this unprecedented case by bringing viewers new interviews, fresh information and exclusive insights from some of the friends and family of Oscar and Reeva, as well as those close to the case.
Reeva's best friend takes us into Reeva's bedroom to speak movingly of their friendship. The documentary also interviews Reeva's ex-boyfriend, who met her for a coffee the day before she died and speaks to close friends of Oscar 's who share their stories about the man they knew and his current state since he was released on bail.
