The 19th annual South African Music Awards took place at Sun City on Friday and Saturday night (10 and 11 May) and aired live on SABC1 with a build-up on RGB.

The ceremony was opened by Toya Delazy who delivered her signature out of her tune performance which she won multiple SAMAs for. She won the Best Newcomer and Best Pop Album categories and her producer Jax Panik won Best Producer for her album Due Drop Deluxe (for digitizing her into tune obviously!)

Congrats to all winners, well deserved! I'm glad my vote for Sfiso Ncwane didn't go to waste :) Bathong! The guy who was dancing for a Tsonga/Venda song had peed on himself or it was just my eyes? I'm sooo :s & x_x. LOL

Im glad Toya finally won, although her live singing is bad,i still dig this girl,Elvis Blue has a beautiful voice and has come a long way, thought Chiano Sky was gonna scoop atleast one nje! Sorry to Khaya's fans but that Move song is horrible, the guy needs to stick to gospel (dont shoot) but realy this whole RnB/Pop thing is not doing him justice...Khuli Chana respect chana, still loughing at the tweeps who were on AKA's case for not winning anything...but he hasn't released bandla

I agree with Ronda, I don't like Khaya's move song too. But ke, the boy has the whole congregation and the rest of KZN supporting him. Congrats to all the winners, cant wait to read about the behind the scenes drama and I'm not sure if I'm the only one who thought the SAMAs this year were whack!

@Ronda I love Toya too but her live singing is always horrible... I've heard her a few times and it doesn't get better

Guys what was that song was playing while Kelly go to pick up her award! SAMA for this year? NO! My favourite part of the ceremony was when they announced best female artist! I love Kelly Khumalo!

13 May 2013 09:21

@ munki102; there is no Tsonga/Venda song; it was either Venda or Tsonga. It would be nice if you can differentiate between the two. They don't even sound the same, for you to be confused about it. Watch Muvhango for crying in a bucket then you can at least know what Venda sounds like. Ignorant much!

"i think that Toya was a bit nervou esp being the first performance," No, I've heard Toya performing live before, more than twice, she always sounds the same...bad...

Tjo! It sounds like I didn't miss much mos.  I recorded them will watch over the weekend.  It sounds like they paid more attention to the goodie bags than the production, what a pity.  To think how good the Metros were.

Whoever told Khaya that he is an R/B/Soul artiste lied to him. He should stick to gospel.

lejazz
14 May 2013 11:24

Thank God Khaya did not win Rec of the Year.

@mbulela .......Whoever told Khaya that he is an R/B/Soul artiste lied to him. He should stick to gospel. His record company must just let him release a full gospel album. How he won that Best RnB  thing is really puzzling. Judges were just drunk nje

I just don't like Khaya, that award definitely belongs to The Muffinz, I'm glad that Toya Delazy have won something, hawu kunini! At last she have won, her music rocks!
