Plain white tank top, blue denim hotpants and red stilettos right in downtown Los Angeles, this the iconic image of Beyoncé in her "Crazy In Love" video and believe it or not that was way back in 2003. How time goes so fast? Today is the tin anniversary of King B's landmark solo album, "Dangerously In Love."
Since its release the album has sold 4.9 million copies in the US and 11 million copies worldwide, making it not only her most commercially successful album to date, but also one of the best-selling albums of the 2000s. The album has spawned four top five hits, including the mega global #1 hit "Crazy In Love", which was listed by Rolling Stone magazine as one of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
The album won five Grammy Awards in 2004 - tying the record for most Grammys won by a female artist in a single night, however, Beyoncé went on to break that record in 2010 - as well as earn Beyoncé the distinction of the first female artist to top both the singles charts and albums charts simultaneously in the US and the UK. In a short amount of time the album reached a lot of milestones and received many honours, including being ranked #183 on the 200 Definitive Albums That Shaped Rock and Roll according to The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2008. Not bad hey? Not bad at all.
